DIR-860L slows down and disconnected me
« on: June 19, 2015, 10:45:09 AM »

Hi

first of the bat am no expert and only got this because i wanted a extra firewall and i was able to stream stuff while i was taking a dump and to support my smaller cuisine so he could come over to play games with his laptop.

i have really solid internet i have fiber in the apartment 100/100mbit.

My internet was fine and i could play games fine before i got the DIR-860L after i got it i started to have to wait randomly 2-5 min for a google page to open. and i really often get disconnected for a few minutes in games. I have setup both bands the 2xxGhz and the 5xGhz bands and they are both password protected and all.

On my for my PC i don't even use wireless i actually run with cable. I really suck at s*** like this so please if you guys have any advice let me know.

Thank you   8)

Ya a bit late. LOL.
Since you have v2.03 loaded you have a Rev B model router.

What wireless modes are you using on the 860L? Auto or a specific mode like G or N?
What channels are you using? Auto or a specific channel? I recommend 1, 6, 11 or 13 on 2.4Ghz
When the wireless device is connected to the wireless on the router, which radio is it using? 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz?
  • Any other WiFi routers in the area that maybe causing interferences? Link> Use a WiFi Scanner to find out. How many?

Disble QoS settings, Set IPv6 to Local Only. Disable DNS Relay and test.

Does the 860L get a ##.##.###.### or a 192.168.#.### address on the WAN or Internet port under status?

I have been depressed so i have not had the energy to look in to this.

How do i see if its a G or N?
am using 1 for my computer and then the internet port from my wall.
i have turn of 2.4ghz and only use 5ghz since that did help a bit.

ok i will look in to WiFi Scanner

I have no option like that to turn that stuff of like QoS, and SEt ipv6.

Look under Wireless in the menu when you log into the router to find wireless modes and settings.
