Hi,
I have a d'link 605L router and my ISP gives a DHCP lease for about 15 minutes and asks for renewal. When my router sends a request for renewal the router takes too long to renew the ip and DNS and I get packet loss. Can somebody explain please how to fix this issue.

What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.
What region are you located?

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?
Check ISP MTU requirements, Cable is usually 1500, DSL is around 1492 down to 1472. Call the ISP and ask. Link>Checking MTU Values

Hardware version is A1,
Firmware version is v 1.14
I guess I have cable internet but I have no modem at home. I have a real IP assigned and the internet goes through the default gateway (also a real ip).
The MTU is 1472 + 28 = 1500. Thanks in advance. Regards

I can only think of a reason the 605L router fails to reacquire IP addressing is that its not getting any response or reply from the ISP service. I would recommend that you phone contact the ISP service to check on if they can help with this and or phone contact DLink support to see if there is anything they can help with.

Ensure the cable from the ISP outlet is in good working condition, swap out and test. Try this router at a friend for families place, someplace different to see if the problem follows. If it follows, then maybe the router needs to be replaced or RMAd. If the problem does not follow then there is a problem with the ISP service.

HI,
Let me explain again. I get like 2 - 5 packets loss every time dlink dhcp client renews the info. It does renew but I get packet loss (2-5 packets). It wouldn't be a problem I guess if the lease is for 24 hours. But the ISP gives a lease for ten minutes. The DHCP does renew the info but it takes like couple seconds and I get destination net unrechable in these couple seconds. When I connect my pc directly to the internet without the router, everything works fine. The problem must be in the router. Could you tell me please whom I need to turn to get help about that.
