DG1210-52MP fan replacement?
« on: May 26, 2020, 04:45:27 AM »

Hello all.
I got a used DGS1210-52MP for cheap. The only thing that is unbearable is the fan noise.
So I'm on a mission to replace the noisy fans for quieter ones.

Has anyone done this before?

My tries so far:
Replace the stock fans (8500RPM) with Suon 40x40x20 5000RPM which is nice from a quietness standpoint. But now the switch shut all the PoE budget down due to some power threshold error.
Does anyone know why? Is it the different RPM or maybe the different power consumption? What fan do I need to use?
I don't want to buy from these eBay-sellers that sell you a $5 fan for $40, naming it "DGS-1210-48 silent fan"

Thanks in advance.

If you put the stock fans back in does the unit work again?

Wanted to try it. One of the fan cables detached from  the fan pcb. Had to solder it on again.
Probably shortened it. After plugging I the switch in nothing happens. No light nothing. Probably fried it.
