mydlink.com - Unable to see live view
« on: March 19, 2018, 07:57:52 AM »

Camera - DCS 936L
Trying to use mydlink.com portal for live view, modify settings - but unsuccessful

Steps:
Login to mydlink.com (OK) using chrome browser
My devices shows my camera (DCS-936L) with a green check mark (OK)
The Live view pages says loading plugin.. 100%, then a long wait timer, then says "loading" for a long time, finally error message in red saying could not connect to the camera, stating on the page that I need to check for 1) more than 256K bandwidth and 2) firewall

The SD card tab shows the same behavior

The "settings" tab when clicked goes into a loop saying "this camera supports privacy mode" and keeps popping up with this message every 5 seconds and i have to keep dismissing it and the settings page never loads

The mydlink+ lite app on android WORKS and shows my live view, settings, playback perfectly, issue is just with accessing through mydlink.com

I am confident I have more than 256K bandwidth. I saw no instructions on firewall in the manual.

When I try Internet Explorer, I experience a crash after login -> shows my device (with green check mark) -> loading -> IE has stopped working (crashes)

Any help will be welcome to make mydlink.com work for me, thanks

Regards

Didn't work

Downloaded the FF installer from the link above as recommended, re-installed the mydlink plug-in, set it to "always activate"

But post login, camera icon shows (with green mark) and while loading the plug-in, an error bar appears at the top of the page stating the brower plug-in has crashed. I clearly the cache etc. couple of times, restarted the browser, still doesn't work.

Any other ideas. My deadline to resolve is by tomorrow else I will return the camera back to the store (they have a 7 days return policy) and buy some other brand instead and hope for better luck..sigh

What Windows OS are you using?
Any security software and browser security add-ons enabled?

I just logged into mydlink.com for my account with IE11 in Windows 7x64 and I'm seeing live view with all my cameras including the 936L.
Also working with FF 52.4.0 (32-bit)

There is a current maintenance notice for the MDL service however it's working currently for me:

Notice: Scheduled Maintenance

The mydlink portal will undergo the server maintenance from March 21 11:00PM to March 22 02:00AM (UTC-7). The mydlink portal and mydlink apps may be temporarily unavailable during this period. If your device still remains offline after server maintenance, please try to reboot your device by unplugging and plugging the power supply. We apologize for any inconvenience.

What Browser are you using?
Most browsers are no longer supporting plug-ins. IE11x32 and FF ESR v52 are ones still working.
Safari v11 for Apple. Safari v12 is no longer supporting plug-ins.
