but I can't find any settings to do this on the 320. So before I send this thing back, can anyone tell me how to actually set up a share on the NFS server on the 320. I can set the NFS to enable, but I can't figure out how to add a share (and subsequently I can't see any share on any other device).
Of course, if it can't be done I'd like to know that as well (so I *can* send it back - still have at least three weeks to do so and if I can't do it by then it's definitely going back).

I'm making a little more progress but not much.
I can see where you can alter the network shares in Account Management. There you can actually set the root directory to an NFS share. However, the instructions referenced above for the 323 say you can then assign a folder to be shared and this is what I suspect I need but there is no place I can do this on the 320.
What happens is then that the IP address of the 320 shows up but when I try to access it I can get to the thing called "mnt\hd\hd_a2 but I see no files there. What I really need is to be able to get to the folder of, say, volume_1\action but I don't see anywhere to specify that.
Also, I'm a little confused by the instructions. It says to enter in host the address of the client (or a range but if only one client like a media player, which I'm trying, to do just that) but I'm using the address of the 320 and it then shows up. My media player doesn't have an IP address (it doesn't show up on the network, although it can access the Windows shares on the network just fine) unless there's something I really don't understand here.
Anyone have a clue?

Okay -- I answered my own questions (and, yes, it was there right in front of me, but I'm an old man and easily confused).
The trick was in those instructions for the 323 -- it was indeed the IP of the device I needed to enter. I was confused because using the IP for the NAS *seemed* to work (it showed up exactly the same as using the IP for the media player, except I couldn't then see any files). The fact the instructions for the 323 are *similar* but not quite the same is also pretty confusing, but at least I could puzzle it out from there.
I had thought about deleting all of this (and my stupidity) then then thought this might help some other old fool so I'll leave it here (I wish I could just use the Windows shares as they are much more straightforward, but my media player has trouble with throughput on some large files unless I use NFS, although tonight it played a rather large movie with no issues using the "normal" shares).

"Volume_1" is mapped in NFS as "/mnt/HD/HD_a2"
That's how does it look like in my /etc/fstab
192.168.1.32:/mnt/HD/HD_a2 /media/nas nfs rw,hard,intr 0 0
for mapping the whole Volume_1 on Ubuntu.
