[SOLVED] Probleme to install fun_plug
« on: July 25, 2011, 11:02:05 AM »

Hello,
I am French and I just bought a DNS320.
I try in vain to install the fun_plug, but when I restart it nothing happens. ffb directory is not created.
Why does my 320 does not dectect files (I put them in the root of Volume_1)?

Thanks

Astik

I followed this tutorial and all went fine.

http://nas-tweaks.net/40/installation-of-the-fonz-funplug-0-5-for-ch3snas-ch3mnas-dns-323-and-many-more/

Hope that will help you. What comes in my mind is you have problem with your filenames. They are case sensitive and lower case.

Check the fun_plug file and ensure that the mounting point is MNT=/mnt/HD/HD_a2 which refer to the first drive on R-slot.

Also check the ffp.log for clue.

I think my file is correct
But how can I check the mounting point?

And there is no log created since the file is not running.

Code: [Select]
#!/bin/sh

# funplug for DNS-320 only !
#
# by Tamas   v 1.3

# switch to safe working directory on ramdisk
cd /

# write a log, in case sth goes wrong
FFP_LOG=/mnt/HD/HD_a2/ffp.log
#FFP_LOG=/dev/null
exec >>$FFP_LOG 2>&1

# real path to ffp
FFP_PATH=/mnt/HD/HD_a2/ffp

# where to search for the install tarball
FFP_TARBALL=/mnt/HD/HD_a2/fun_plug.tgz

# setup script (used for ffp on USB disk)
FFP_SETUP_SCRIPT=/mnt/HD/HD_a2/.bootstrap/setup.sh

# rc file path
FFP_RC=/ffp/etc/rc

It would appear this is not the original file as the mounting point is hard-coded rather than through the use of variable MNT but should work nonetheless.

Is this a partial content of fun_plug file you posted?

Did you download *both* files ? The text file ("funplug") and the .tar.gz ?

Is fun_plug installed on the first drive (ie. R-slot)?

Yes. I have a single disk (in reality, 2 that are connected in RAID 1).
Files are in VOLUME_1.

In this case, it's done correctly.

My advice would be to re-download the 2 files and replaced the existing one.

Although you have two drives appearing as one because of RAID 1, those files must be installed in the root of the drive that is in the right hand slot.  If they are not there they will not be used when the NAS boots.

I removed the left disk, rebooted with the 2 files installed ... and nothing
