Title: Images not attached to motion detection email notifications
Post by: marknohr on October 27, 2015, 10:46:13 AM
Just upgraded the firmware to 1.06
I am receiving email notifications.
I do have the "Enable the emailing of images to an email account" checkbox checked.
I do have the "Motion Detection" Radio button selected
I do have the "Email attached with 6 frames" Radio Button selected

Just upgraded Java (although I don't know how that would affect this)

Edit to reflect results (save you some reading):
A long path down doubting network hardware and ultimately the root cause has something to do with attached images and my email provider (no actual root cause which is annoying but life goes on). Ultimately gmail was the workable solution.
Worth noting the camera could not connect over wifi to the Netgear WGT624 V3 router.

The last item in this thread was about receiving both a notification email AND an email with images ~every time a motion detection event happened. It turns out unchecking the "Enable Email Notifications" box on the https://www.mydlink.com/device#XXXXXX/tab2 (settings) eliminated the notification only email.

Was a factory reset performed after the update and set up from scratch?
Was this working before the update?
Was the camera experiencing problems before the update?

What main program or browser do you use to check the emails?
There is no attachments at all in the sent emails?
Try a different browser to be sure?

What region are you located?

What Mfr and model is your ISP modem and Main host router? 5009L -> wireless -> Belkin N300  -> wired -> Netgear WGT624 -> wired -> SB6121 -> comcast
reviewing now...
Not sure what help this FAQ is unless I went to using gmail. I am getting the emails just without the pictures and I have no problem with my current mail server sending and receiving attachments although I'm assuming these attachments are huge.

It is a wireless access point and also has 4 Ethernet ports that I'm hard connecting computers to.

Does the main host router have wifi by chance?

Yes although I cannot get the wireless to connect. There are other devices connected to that router and I;ve gone through every combination of security type. The boot time on this camera make the process very laborious.

I did hard wire to that router and triggered a motion email. Still no images

Ok. It is ~working now.
Step 1. Get a Gmail account and do the Setting up email on DCS series cameras FAQ - http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=63536.0

Step 2 - ???: Once you have a baseline of things working then try to migrate to your own email provider ( I have not made it there)

Things to know:
There is some relationship between the email interval and the latency between when the motion is detected and when an email arrives about it. While getting it to work, set this interval to 10 seconds or so.

Don't waste too much time trying to get the camera to connect to a Netgear WGT624 V3. Perhaps DLink has a list of routers they have verified this camera works with.

Thank you FN for your assistance!

How to get 1 email every motion detection instead of 2?
One email is a notification of the event and the other is the same but has pictures attached.

Did you ever get just 1 email with the attachment? I'm wondering if maybe the email system is splitting the email from the attachment or the camera is doing it.  ???

it is not consistent,
most of the time there is an email notification from  Dlink_Mail_Center eventusmp@mydlinknotify.com via amazonses.com that does not include any pictures followed by an email from the gmail address I set up which includes the pictures

It seems the two email notification occurs when the motion detection events have ~> 10 minutes between them but if the detection events are close together the emails are from my gmail account and include the pictures and the email from Dlink_Mail_Center eventusmp@mydlinknotify.com via amazonses.com is not sent.
