Title: download speed
Post by: erd on March 23, 2010, 11:46:29 PM
hi

i tried using dlink router dir 855 on my cable service (docsis 3 technology) and i am only getting 25 mbps for my download which is half of the speed if i use directly the modem supplied by my isp which is 50 mbps . same also with my upload speed 2.5mbps instead of 5 mbps.

is dir 855 compatible with my cable modem provided by my isp? which is an smc (SMCD3GN)

thanks

This is more than likely because your cable provider is cheating and using a dual connection to provide you your full speed.  My cable provider does the same and I'm using an SMC Docsis 3.0 modem.  The dual connection definitely is not a very good solution either.  I ended up downgrading to the 2.5MB service with the 1MB up.  In doing that, I see closer to 3MB down and 1.2MB up because of similar issues that I relate to the way the cable companies deliver the speed.

whats your QoS setup?  Is dynamic frag on? Do you input your own manual uplink speed? (Very important).  Uplink speed basically creates a bandwidth pipe regardless of actual bandwidth.  Could you give us your settings?
