I have been using my DNS-343 perfectly fine since I got it over a year ago. I am using firmware 1.03 (with 4 1.5TB drives installed). Just today after travelling with the DNS-343 for a few days by car and setting it up with a new router, it gets the message "Warning: Network is Disconnected". When it first boots up, I do see that it is detected on the network since the router shows a connection on the port, but after about 3/4 of the boot cycle, it drops from the network, and is not pingable. I am guessing it is some sort of ethernet card issue in the DNS-343, but it is odd that it is detected during initial boot-up. I'm looking for advice to determine if it truly is a hardware issue with the DNS-343, and how to fix it. I don't have easy access to a cross-over cable, hence connecting directly to my PC is not my first choice.
Thanks,
Eric

i got the same just today (6 years later ...)

- What Hardware version is your DNS? Look at the sticker behind or under the device.
- Link>What Firmware (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=47512.0) version is currently loaded? Found on the DNSs web page under status.
- What region are you located?
What Mfr and model is the main host router?
Is the DNS getting a Dynamic IP address from the main host router? I recommend using a Static IP address ON the DNS set to 192.168.#.34 or .40.
Swap out LAN cables. Link> Cat6 is recommended. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAT6)

it is the same he had, the DNS-343
Firmware is 1.06
i didn't move from this place or even put online for few months at least 2, and them today :(
i tried few others cable, it s same.
and i am from France.
at staring is says " caution network is disconnected"
when i set "next" i get usual info with 192.168.0.106 as usual but this one is wrong
and on the left there is a big "X" between two computer icon.
-
What is the Mfr and model of main host router that your PC and the DNS is connected to? I presume you are using a host router?
-
what you mean by Mfr ?
model host routeur is tp-link AC 750
i reboot few times for now
it s not always says "network is disconnected" (weird)
on Traffic Statistics from router i can see now:
IP Address
MAC Address Packets Bytes Packets Bytes ICMP Tx UDP Tx SYN Tx
192.168.0.105 00:24:BE:C7:4D:F5 25,991 11,867,672 3 222 0/0 0/62 0/155
192.168.0.102 78:E8:B6:F6:8C:7C 2,271 798,705 0 0 0/0 0/29 0/7
192.168.0.104 08:3D:88:7F:E1:01 16,441 6,676,061 26 7,334 0/0 2/60 1/50
192.168.0.110 00:1C:F0:9B:D9:41 35,257 11,321,762 0 0 0/2 0/134 0/159
192.168.0.106 00:00:00:00:00:00 23 6,829 0 0 0/0 0/0 0/0
which 192.168.0.106 is the dns-343 but without mac address
edit:
and with D-link easy search utility, i have nothing no device and on Firefox no access setting (time out)

Try swapping LAN port slots on the back of the router. Try different LAN cable. Use one from one device that is working.
Power down the DNS then back on after making this change.
Power OFF all devices accept for the one wired PC.
Ya, the DNS is not getting an IP from the router...106?
Which address is your PC?
Possible that maybe something wrong with DNS LAN port. Does it have two LAN ports in back? Try the other if it does.
Mfr = Manufacturer> TPLink

i Power OFF router and DNS
i tried swapping lan port slots on the back of the router and with other cable.
my PC is 192.168.0.110
there is only one lan port on the DNS
first restart : "network is disconnected" on other port lan router port and other cable
nothing on Traffic Statistics from router
system halt
second star : says nothing
on router there is something but still no IP MAC

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

ok
i also send a MP to skierdude but this profile is not encouraging

Ya the OP hasn't been back since they originally posted. So I think phone with D-Link support would have better results. You may have a faulty unit.
Only other thing to try is to take the DNS to a different location and see if it connects. Say a friend, neighbor or family member.

Hi ,
So , i take some time to get back...
I call support fews days ago.
They only says it was very very old DNS ... true ☺
And tel me to reset nothing esle.
Now on the dns panel i have ip 192.168.0.32
(frimware is still 1.06 kind of strange i think)
I did tried on a onther router still same BUT i found something very interesting if i launch dns without lan cable it says anyway the same error "network is disconnected"

If i remove or change power batteriy is that relevant?

So can you connect to 192.168.0.32 while the DNS is connected to the router with your PC connected to the router as well?

A Few of questions.
1) does the unit complete the boot sequence?
2) do the fans start running at startup?
3) have you tried another power supply? (the 19v 4.74A supply for a laptop computer will work)
The reasons for these questions is that we had similar problems with one of our DNS-343 boxes a few years ago. We used the power supply from an Acer Aspire 9200 to test and everything started working again and has been running 24/7 with that power supply ever since.
A power supply that is beginning to fail will generally supply enough power to start the boot process (the LAN comes early in that) but when the drives try to start the voltage drops causing the switching off quite a number of functions the OLED screen remains working because it is a low voltage item.

1) the boost sequence seem to be complete.
2) yes fans a running at startup then stop after. (I also try without hdd)
3) a other power supply I didnt think about that i ll check voltage and ampère
-
When you check the power supply make sure you do under load. A failing switch mode power supply will most probably show the correct voltage without load but will not be able to do that under load.

Any status on this? ???

Hi
I don't testing yet with power supply 19V 4,74a
I don't have one I can use yet
I ll let u know as soon as possible

Hi there, i am back...
so.. I finally try with another power supply ( 19v 150w and 7.5a) it did not change a thing
there is always "Network is disconnected"
EDIT:
i was thinking about something there is a supply battery CR2032 can it be the problem ?
-
Any status on this?
I don't think the internal battery would effect network disconnect.

Status is still same.

My try the DNS at a different location or with a different router, PC or switch and see if the problem continues. IF it does, then there maybe something going bad on the DNS.
-
I already try with an other router
I did try to reset fews month ago too but since than he ip on panel stay 192.168.0.32 it never change.
Sorry for my very wrong english
-
Can you log into the DNS at .32?
-
No he s not know by the router is like it doesn't exist
And these is no led of actif device on RJ45 port panel
Ip router: 192.168.0.1
Ip pc1: 192.168.0.199
Ip dlink on this panel 192.168.0.32
But always with message " caution network is disconnected"
-
I can only presume that the DNS connection is bad on the unit. Or something has happened to the unit.
