unable to download large file
« on: September 11, 2007, 07:08:23 PM »

DIR-655 kept crashing when I tried to download a 600 MB file to a wireless PC.  First I tried to download from the internet.  I tried 4 times and each time it crashed at about 60 MB point.  I thought a local transfer might work so I downloaded the file to my wired PC first. However the router also crashed when I tried to copy the file to the wireless PC.

The wireless PC is running Windows Vista.  It has a D-Link super-G card with the latest driver.

Firmware version is 1.02.

I'm not using the later ones because alll of them crashed the router after only minutes of normal use.

I don't see why I have DIR-655 running on firmware 1.05 and I have been able to pass files over 1GB on my wireless network did you check the file it might be corrupted

I'm running firmware 1.02.  Later versions would crash my router.  The file is OK because I later transferred it using a flash drive.

Who is your ISP, and what kind of modem do you have?

I'm using Rogers Cable in Canada.  Modem is Motorola SB5100.

I could download the file from the internet to the wired PC.  When I tried to copy it from the wired
PC to the wireless, the router crashed - all wireless PCs lost connection and couldn't reconnect
unless I reboot the router.

I tried it probably 3 times and same thing happened each time.

It's probably nothing to do with modem as the file copy is between the PCs and the router.
