My new DCS-2132L has had persistent audio static clicking. I've tried everything under the sun, with no resolution. The noise is present on different operating systems, different computers, in D-ViewCam and when accessing the camera directly via both Firefox and Explorer browsers. The static noise also makes it's way into recorded video, both on-board and via D-View Cam. I've tried numerous configuration combinations on the camera, in an attempt to isolate the issue. The only additional insight gained was that sometimes the microphone turns off by itself, and toggling it off and on in the camera would turn the microphone on again.

The ability for a check box/radio button to enable the whole field of view for motion detection.  This would prevent users from having to use the worst internet browser in existence to highlight a grid.  Either that, or just make the grid work with chrome and/or firefox.

Not really firmware, but the ability to download the active X component for IE independently.

- Option to fix daylight/light problem. When it’s daylight and camera is directed towards the window to outside, camera cannot (automatically) correct the daylight/light. When I watch live streaming I see only white picture.
I tried with my iPhone 4 camera and the iPhone 4 camera automatically fixes the light problem.
Solution/Fix: I found out that 'Anti Flicker' option in Setup/Image Setup, if ON it make a white noise in daylight, if OFF it's better and I can see some off outside.
- I would like to see "Rotate" option for the camera. It has the Mirror and Flip, but I miss the Rotate left or Rotate right 90º.
- More than 2 events in Event Setup (3 or 4 events would be great).
- Automatic Firmware update or check if there is a new Firmware and direct download and update option.
- Maximum frame rate of 30 (I think that camera supports up to 30 fps).
- Motion detection, select more than one area (better option to set 3-4 or more areas).
- Backup data from SD card to FTP/NAS with schedule.
- Better SD card delete option, to delete the folder and subfolders and files with one click.
- Option to disable the build in microfon.
- Dropbox cloud service support (add camera to Dropbox for backup).
- IE 10 support (now sometimes frizzing, cannot select other button in menu - not responding).
- Video Clip / Pre-event recording 0-15 Second(s) or more, Maximum duration 1-200 or more, Miximum file size 10000 Kbytes or more.

 ;)

Are you saying that this is already fixed since anti-flicker corrects the issue?

No, it is not fixed. The image gets over-exposured in bright light/snowy conditions even if the anti-flicker option is OFF. This is clearly a bug and should be fixed in 2132L firmware. Also I would very much like to see the FTP overwrite function in next FW release.

Able to switch on/off PIR Motion detection only just like my DCS-942L. The PIR motion detection is a better alternative for the camera in regards to the room it's used in. I use the Surveillance Station on my Synology NAS and this setup works well with the DCS-942L.

As a side note, please let me know if I'm using the camera incorrectly in regards to switching PIR detection only on.

Thanks,

jpms.

My PIR motion detection is turned off on my 2132L. I'm not sure what you are talking about?

I don't have a Synology NAS.  But that setup appears to be under the Event Setup->SERVER option, which is unrelated to Event Setup->EVENT, which I detail below:

I set up the event trigger option for PIR or MOTION DETECTION (which uses the motion detection settings you set (sensitivity and percentage and location areas))

If I wanted to add PIR, I would create another event for PIR.

Hi thanks for the response. I don't use the D Link software at all so that event trigger wont work for me and possibly others who choose to use the Synology surveillance station software instead.

Like I said, the 942L and the 5222L have the ability to switch the PIR on and off in the motion detection settings page (this is a check box). I then let the camera handle movement detection via PIR only and then it records it via the Surveillance station software to the NAS.

I'm sure that this ability can be added to this camera via firmware.

Sounds like you should be complaining about Synology crap

And you said nothing about the 5222L previously, only the 942l.

the 5222L firmware isn't the same beast as the 2132L.

The 2132L is similar to the dcs-2230.

*I have all 3, and I see the differences in the f/w.

By what you are trying to say, the 5222L might be similar to the 942L firmware. I'm not buying a 942L to find out.

IMHO - the 5222l f/w is probably end of life. the 2132l/2230 f/w is probably what is going forward.  but what do I know. I don't work there.  And no one from there would probably say anything anyways.

All I'm trying to say is that they all have an on-board PIR and even though they are all different beasts - I'm sure a simple switch via a check box can be put in so I can either control movement via video motion or motion via PIR.
I would like to get a couple of screen grabs - but I'm having trouble attaching them. You can see what I mean in the 942L instruction manual page 37.
Anyway, all I would like is for this suggestion to be put on the Wishlist.

SEPARATE MAC ADDRESSES FOR WIRED VS WI-FI!

With both wired and wi-fi connected, say during configuration, the network has multiple paths to the mac address, and the network goes nuts, dropping every other packet.

I've been using http://postimage.org/ (http://postimage.org/) for screen grabs.. I believe it's the first forum option, copy their link and use it here.

Thanks for your help RYAT3.
The first image shows that you can manually enable the PIR detector if you would like to use it for motion detection rather than using Video Motion.
The second image shows that the 2132L doesn't have this setting.
It would be a nice thing to have on the 2132L too.

Yes, I agree if you use the D-Link software to take care of things. However, the event trigger for PIR detection does not work with the Synology Surveillance station software that I'm using, and this is not a Synology issue. The surveillance station software doesn't' care which method the camera is using for motion detection.

All I ask is that a check box be put in like the 942L camera for us folk that have purchased the hardware, and don't use D-Link software. This has worked well for for me the 942L.

This is not a complaint - just a suggestion for the wishlist.

In the Event Setup section when you create a new event I would like to see the Periodic trigger be measured in seconds NOT minutes. With the shortest time being .5 seconds.
Title: Re: DCS-2132L - Firmware Wishlist
Post by: bs27975 on May 01, 2013, 08:33:46 AM
- More than 2 events in Event Setup (3 or 4 events would be great).

+1 on events. 2 is ludicrous. 3 or 4 will not be nearly enough.

e.g. How about an SMTP at each boot? Daily log file SMTP? Network lost log event? Motion detection during day? PIR detection at night?

Easy to come up with much more than 3 or 5.

Also, on:

General - Dropbox support (option for backup destination as well)

SMB could be dropped into a dropbox shared folder, and dropbox magic happen from there. FWIW.

Add:

There is some event goofiness going on that should be sorted out.
- with recording on to sd, and motion detection events to sd, no motion detection events go to sd, only full live recording.
- with recording off, and motion detection events to sd, the sd only gets log files. no video at all. (They will go to SMB, but not to SD.)

Users able to get to SD without having admin password, and to log. (Log contains motion events, they go to sd to see them.) Preferably create a 'power user' class of user, able to administrate (or just read) the video side of the world, and not permitted to touch the network settings. [That mydlink.com has no users is ludicrous.]

*** PLEASE: For any discussion on these items, start a new thread. Keep this one clean. Final corrections can be posted, but lets keep the verbiage in between elsewhere.

At connection of wired network, release/renew dhcp, turn off wi-fi if not already successfully connected.

At removal of connection, release/renew dhcp, re-turning on wi-fi (I suppose).

My cam was at home, happy on wi-fi.

I moved to a different network temporarily, where the SSID it was familiar was not available.

By no means could I find the cam to get to it to tell it to use a different wi-fi SSID. Connects / reconnects of wired network, power resets, NOTHING would let me get to the cam to redirect it as to the wired or wi-fi network it should use.

I'm not interested in carrying around a copy of the config and resetting to factory defaults wherever I go.

Alternately, pointers to instructions as to how to get at the cam, having disconnected from the current wi-fi to a new network, appreciated.

-----

Put another way ... make standard practice ... at connection of wired, turn off wi-fi, release / renew DHCP. At disconnection of wired, if wi-fi specified, try it.

And/or ... if wi-fi fails to connect, and wired present, try to use it, turning off wi-fi in the process. (?) If not present, or dhcp request fails, try wifi again. Repeat.

Please add the requested fix for the daylight/white noise-washout issue as addressed here:

http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=52667.0

When Exposure is set to OUTDOOR.
Changing Anti-Flicker has no effect (does not reduce the white out)
Changing Exposure to Customize has no effect.

This daylight bug is confirmed on mydlink.com with a DCS-2132L having the latest firmware.
I can send a picture attachment, if requested.
Thank you.

Correction, if I'm reading this properly:

"SD Card - Security Issue - Users may access SD card without an admin password (add security policy/group to manage SD card access"

Should be ... (currently) users may only access the SD card *WITH* the admin password. Add security ... so that 'power users' can administer sd files / see the log, without authority to change setup / network settings.

In essence ... create a new tab, 'SD', split out from setup, and include a log viewing entry on it. (Currently, non-admins cannot access setup.html, to get to / under which the sd file viewer is. A separate SD tab would follow the permissions model, and permit the desired access.)

Updated...

"SD Card - Add a "Power User" security ..." misses their need to see the log (where motion events are logged), so such a user accessing the live recordings knows what time point to skip to for the next motion point.

Really, I suspect it better said as I noted earlier, move SD to its own tab (gaining it's own access point / user), with a (duplicated?) sub-entry (left side) of log.

If you go in as a user, for example, and try to go to log, it can't, no permission. Same for setup. e.g. No permission to setup.html is returned. A 'mediauser' would then be allowed to go to /sd.html (and once there on the left would be logs), while the normal user still would not be allowed to go to /sd.html.

I would like to see the image setup functions moved to the Live Video screen.  It's very difficult to see the result of changes and therefore very time consuming to make any.

Also, my 942L has a button on the Live Video screen to toggle day/night mode.  I'd like to see that on the Live Video screen for the 2132L as well.

Finally, I wish the motion detection interface was the same as the 942L.  On the 2132L, the squares are way too large (look at the iSpy Connect motion interface for what I think would be ideal), there should be draw/erase options and PIR options.
Title: Re: DCS-2132L - Firmware Wishlist- AUDIO TROUBLE
Post by: sallenman@gmail.com on November 19, 2013, 07:23:09 AM
I bought the 2132l six months ago and was very satisfied with it. It urged me to update fw every time I opened it (using mydlink lite on iphone), but I ignored this since i believe in "If it aint broken don't fix it".

Well a couple of weeks ago I figured i might try the latest fw 1.02, after all, I hade been using the oldest one, 1.006. This turned out to be extremely stupid of me. Now the audio was unhearably due to distortion of some kind. I tried adjusting all kinds of settings, lowering video quality etc without any result. Same result on dviewcam.

So i googled, found some posts, best one was this: http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?action=printpage;topic=54584.0

I tried downgrading one fw at a time (found here http://tsd.dlink.com.tw/)  , without any improvement, until I was back to 1.006, now the distortion was gone, but instead there was a clicking sound. Tried disabling the speaker function, and tada! the audio was wokring fine again.

So, since there seems to be many users having the same issue, I wonder why this isn't a big deal on the forum? Is there something I don't know? Can I use 1.02 with audio working using special settings?

I would like to see quick toggle for all events or at least for both video motion tracking AND passive infrared tracking. It would work best if it were one UI page where you can link directly, without going through sub activities.

This way one could access the camera, and enable or disable the tracking. Useful when you have the camera as home guard, and you come and go.

This sort of works when you go to settings and motion detection, and toggle the video motion detection. But that part works ONLY for video motion algorithm, and not PIR. If you use PIR as the trigger, you have to enter the event setup, and disable EVERY event with PIR. Very time consuming. Even with motion tracking you have to make a couple of steps before you are at enable/disable.

The same goes for myDlink App: you have to do several steps before you can toggle the motion detection. It should be quick access item.
--

Other than this, it would be good to have a couple of more events available. Now it is very difficult to set SMS alert (through email service), initial email pictures (first safe pictures), FTP transmit (for more detailed safe pictures) and actual recording to SD. All this works individually, but with two events it is hard to select.

(1) enhance WiFi client signal strength. The WiFi strength is weak. I use dcs-5020L and dcs-5230L too and both connect to my WiFi router from my bedroom, but dcs-2132L does not. dcs-2132L only connects when in close proximity to my WiFi router.

Can a feature be added to make the camera more easy/practical to use "stand alone"?

In "Event Setup" under "Media" and "Snap Shot". Can a choice be added where user can choose how many pictures should be saved before starting over and overwriting the first pictures. If for example 4000pictures is to be saved in a loop, where this number is added to the picture name, and when reaching 4000 it begin again with 0000 and overwrite that picture.

This feature is perfect when having a simple installation with a NAS present, and where one would NOT like to use a supervision software. Then it's simple to FTP or simply save this loop of pictures onto a known area on disc, and do not have to be worried about overflow with pictures...

1) The ability to time based Image settings. So you could customise for day and night. If I for example use one of the preset Exposure modes "Moving" which works great during the day but is useless during the night or low light conditions. It currently seems that the best exposure mode to cover both day and night is achieved with a customize profile with the full range of shutter speeds which you would think the Auto profile would do but does not.

2) The ability to trigger multiple actions off 1 event. Currently if I want to take an image and a video  using motion I need to use 2 events with are the same trigger. It would be nice if If I could use 1 event (i.e motion) to trigger both video and images so I could use the other event for something else like PIR.

Allow for the same type of FTP upload as available w/ the DCS-930L. I purchased this camera to upload images to Weather Underground and have not figured out a way to do it. It works fine with my 930L.

I believe some people have referred to this as FTP overwrite. I need to be able to upload an image of the same name once per minute. Like I said, just like the feature available in the 930L.

It would be nice if we could save to daily folders on the FTP server like I can with my DCS-933L. It would make it much easier to manipulate and organize the captures. It does organize captures on the SD card to daily folders but not to the FTP server. Can that be done?  Thanks   ;D

Hi,

First off I want to say I am really pleased with this camera I just have a couple of gripes which would be great if they could be addressed in the next firmware release:

1.  Under event setup-media.  The the "Pre-event recording", "Maximum duration" and "Maximum file size", it would be great if we were not limited on these.  If we could enter any figure that would be great.  Because of this limit at the moment I'm having to run my webcam through webcamxp as I can specify my own limits there but at the cost of poor video quality with no audio.

2.  Under event setup-recording settings.  Again the limit to be removed from "Total cycling recording size" would be good and instead of drop down boxes on "Size of each file for recording" and "Time for each file for recording" if we could have input boxes where we could type a figure (again unlimited).

These two changes would really make the world of difference as to how I use this webcam, as I'm having to run my webcam through another piece of software to get these settings at the moment.  I would really like the webcam to be able to do it without the need of third party software.

Many many thanks in advance

Kind Regards

James

Not to nitpick, but this class of cameras is referred to as "network cameras", not "webcams". Webcams are typically defined as cameras that cannot operate independently of a host PC and are tethered to the host PC via USB.

Sorry I wasn't to clear, I meant I am using the 2132l with webcamxp as a network camera which lets me use whatever limit I wish but it uses a lot of system mem/cpu and the video/picture quality is rubbish and with no audio.

Thanks again

Just curious. I understand the DCS-2132L has a lot more capabilities than (for example) the DCS-933. But... can't they use the DCS-933 firmware as a base and build the DCS-2132L firmware from there? I have both cameras and the DCS-933 works well and has feature that could be useful in all the firmwares. The DCS-933 firmware has the capability to save in daily folders. You can customise the label that shows on the monitor. In the MyDlink+ app, I can change and save the motion detect areas on the fly in my DCS-933 and DCS-930 but can't do anything but look at the camera view with the DCS-2132L. I paid double the price for the DCS-2132L than the other cameras but can do less. The DCS-2132L firmware is clunky and slow compared to the DCS-933 and 930.

Actually I must say that I'm quite happy with my DCS-2132Ls (I own three of them). Compared e.g. to DCS-930L I really like the widescreen option and higher resolution. My satisfaction with the camera may relate to the fact that I'm not using the advanced features (motion detection, etc.) practically at all. Also the cameras with the latest 1.02 FW have been extremely stable. Actually two of the cameras are located in a different country, roughly 1500km away, so I cannot manipulate them manually too often  :). The biggest thing that bothers me is the DCS-2132L inability to use the same file name in FTP transfer. Also the the bad audio quality (clicking and cutting) has not been improved with the latest FW releases. But as said, I feel that this camera is almost a perfect fit to my real time video surveillance needs. And what is most important when comparing to many other camera vendors is the D-Link cloud service. My remote ISP in the other country doesn't provide public IPs, which means that the only way to access the camera is via the cloud service.

This was most likely a strategic decision on the part of D-Link as all of the newer high-end consumer Cloud cameras seem to adhere to this new design.

Thanks for posting your feedback. Although I don't own the DCS-2132L, my other three Cloud camera models are extraordinarily stable, which is what's most important to me. The advanced features are nice-to-haves, but not as critical as having reliable access to the cameras. Your FTP file name request is already on the wishlist, so hopefully D-Link will take that to heart.

If not already mentioned before, I would like the minimum delay between email notifications to be increased beyond 99 seconds -- which is the maximum size of the field.

The DCS-5222L PTZ camera has an entry labelled "Send next E-mail after" and can support up to 86400 seconds.

This would help cut down on constant notifications, and help avoid having Gmail (or other SMTP servers) temporarily block you for sending too many emails per day.

Even better would be to add deeper integration with mydlink as an additional option (SMTP, FTP, etc... and add "mydlink") and have this mydlink option send notifications to the mydlink app on mobile devices.

Also, the DCS-2132L should support the snapshot API other DLINK cameras have, so I can programmatically enable and disable motion detection snapshot notifications.

General - Full web UI support with additional browsers (i.e. Firefox, Safari, etc.)  I believe this has been fixed. Motion detection settings are now available in chrome and firefox

Audio - Persistent clicking/static [Reported by multiple owners] I believe this has been fixed.

Event Setup - Option to disable event logs I dont see this option, however I no longer get email bombed by the camera with alert logs.

Motion Detection - Option to enable/disable PIR via a check box This looks like it was done.

Motion Detection - Option to enable entire frame for motion detection area (rather than manually highlighting the grid, which is problematic with some browsers) Looks like this was done.

Those are the ones I have found to be added.

Thanks!

Dear All,
I think is a good idea add HTTP Notification on Motion Detection as Axis or Mobotix IpCam.
With HTTP Notification is possible to send the alarm to other devices as domotic station (Fibaro, Rasp with Domoticz ex.)
