Title: Firmware (1.11.B07) Bricks Router

Be careful upgrading with this firmware. I've owned the router since March, and updated the current firmware at the time. However, I've never been able to map the USB drive like I could on my previous router so I contacted technical support. The second solution was to upgrade the firmware so I did it directly connected with an ethernet cable, the router seen a new firmware was released so I like it pull it from dlink. The firmware download then upgraded and it told me the update was complete then no internet access on any devices. The router had all the normal leds but the power/globe led was flashing orange. I let it sit for awhile w/ no change so power cycled. The router now has the same led flashing orange but nothing else. Reset button does another either. I've  e-mailed tech support back to advise of the situation and hopefully they let me RMA it.

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations

What Browser were you using? IE11 or FF is recommended.
Did you disable ALL PC security software before attempting the FW update?
Did you follow FW update process outlined here?  Link> >FW Update Process (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=42457.0)

You can try the recovery process here and see if the router will recover:

I updated mine to 1.11b07 without any issues. Before RMAing it you can try to crash reset it.

- Download any firmware version for your DIR-885L
- Set a static IP address on your laptop or desktop to 192.168.0.7 or any IP in that subnet
- Connect the laptop/desktop to the router directly
- Power off the router and then press the reset with a pin or paperclip and then power on holding the reset in for about 5-10 seconds (you may need to try a few times to get the timing right)
- Open a web browser and type in http://192.168.0.1 you should see a recovery page. Try to load on a firmware bin file and apply. Once it looks like it's completed, power cycle the router once more and it should be up and running again.

It's mentioned that wireless bridge mode is now enabled? Is this seen in the UI? Under Internet I believe?
I thought this model was supposed to have Extender mode with the switch on the back...

I logged into the router and was told to update the firmware for a NAS issue I have. I let the router download and upgrade the firmware via the automatic upgrade. In March I upgraded manually which I will go back to for the next update.

I followed the instructions listed below which brought the router back to life. It was already in recovery mode. All I can think of is something glitched during the upgrade. Thank you both for the assistance

Glad you got it back. Ya, doing any FW updates, please use the FW update process and manually load it.
