DAP-1555 help
« on: May 16, 2009, 01:48:10 PM »

If I have the DIR-825 dual band router, do I need 2 of these to make the bridge. I want to use it to hook up 2 Directv receivers to use in my network. Can this be put in the same room as the receivers and pick up the wireless signal from the 825 or do I have to use one hooked up hardwired and the 2nd wireless. I am a bit confused by this, any help would be appreciated.

no, the dap-1522 has four wired lan ports. I have the dir855 duo=router with a dap1522 100ft from the dir-855.

The 1522 connects to the 855 on the 5gHz at my media center, The 1522 has the following conneted to it..
1)two hd directv dvr
2) video phone and
3).powerline lan adapter with a pc another hd directv drvconnect via the powerline to the dap1522..

with dhcp server it assigns the 1522 ports at the 855

the 1522 I pass through the 855 server. I assign the QOS for speed/bandwidth use

addintionally the two laptops, one pc and a second video phone are wireless into the 855,

depending if you want two distinct wireless netowrk , which is my situation.

At each location I needed multipule ports.

I use a powerline for a single port access at third and four location connecting to the 1522. It connects to the 855 to the cable modem. Im on Cox and have 15-25Mbit down 1.5-3.0 Mbit up.

If you can define disticnt location(s) for the extented locations needing greater then one port the bridges work great. if you only need one port at muti locations then powerline may work as well, bring it back to either a port on your bridge or wireless router.

two drv can be receiving VOD  my son gaming on pc, two laptops on without any disconnects or speed limitations.

if your config is dirferent let me know what it is. speed considerations by device would help too.
