Thanks.

I have noticed that the router is now on Channel 7... before it was on Channel 1.

I logged into my DNR-202L, and my 1 2310L I had on 2.4Ghz which was giving me "connecting" issues, cleared up.
I removed the AP/extender on my 2nd 2310L I had setup, and that cam is now fine on 2.4 Ghz.

So I'm not sure if these are the improvements, or simply the router going to a different channel.  (I had to use WiFi Analyzer as you really can't tell much with Smart Connect enabled).

So does it prevent the hack attacks or not?  ???

The security fixes were in v1.07. I guess I miss clicked on the release notes. Those fixes are already in this version as well.

New Features and Improvements seen:
I see that the UI of the QoS section has changed. Two modes of operation now, by Device or by Application. Also Detect ISP speed test. Seems to work. Found 98 and 3 of my 100 and 3 spec.

Also when Application is enabled, there is bandwidth gauges on each device you select in the Clients list. Very nice.

Seems that the clients icon reservation behavior seems to be much improved. Will see if tomorrow a user can rename and reserve IPs with out issue. I reserved about 18 devices so far. I think a notification of reaching 24 reservations should be seen.

FW was installed and router configured using Mac OSX 10.10.5 and Safari.

Thank you D-Link. Please make these same improvements on the DIR-880L/895L. PLEASE.  ::)

Looking good so far. Please post your experiences here.

The ACER laptop I had connected now identifies as "Wistron (ChongQing)" as connected name...  I don't remember that before... (maybe said "Unknown Vendor").. so I googled both of those... ;)    Wistron is the location from what I can tell, and ChongQing is the supplier...

Now after this update my wife's iPhone6s (9.3.5) keeps dropping the Wi-Fi upstairs? If I turn SC off it's ok? Any ideas?

Thanks,

How was the update applied?

Can try disabling SC and test.

I haven't had enough time to see if my iPhone 6P (9.2.1) experiences any issues. So far it's been ok since last nite. I have 2 other wired APs in the house as well.
SC enabled on mine.

I did a hard reset, update via LAN, and hard reset and restored my settings.

Yes that's what I was trying to say if I disable SC it works fine. I just tried doing the firmware again and same problem. Also if you try to manually re connect the iPhone it says wrong password? Or sometimes it will connect only to drop once the phone screen goes black.

Hmmm maybe something wrong with the iPhone?
Is this the only device that seems to be experiencing this issue?
Try forgetting the ssid name of the 890L then reboot the iPhone and try to reconnect while SC is enabled...

No my iPhone 6s was doing it also as the day went on I did some testing. It never did it before with 1.09 FW. I didn't really notice on my phone because I don't use it in bed much, my wife is a different story. So only seems to happen more the further away from the router I go... Although it's still full wifi bars on phone,  my house is only 1700sq ft side-split. And like I said worked on 1.09 so maybe a channel it's picking now?

So I just did what you asked try forgetting the ssid name of the 890L then reboot the iPhone and try to reconnect while SC is enabled... So I will see how it goes tonight. I did try forgetting the ssid name before but I didn't reboot her phone. See what happens...

Thank You,

Ryan

Ok, it's still disconnecting on both iPhone6s phones with SC enabled. This only happens upstairs in my house, however the phone still has full Wi-Fi bars for signal strength.

Suppose you don't have any iphones with older iOS code on them or any friends or neighbors what would?

I'm wondering if this maybe a iOS/v1.10 FW issue. I'm using iOS 9.2.1 and not seeing this so far. I'm wondering if there is something on newer iOS and this newer version of FW.

One more test to try, manually load the v1.09 version and re-test with SC enabled. Let us know what you find please...
I do have an iphone 4S and will check it's version this evening.

Ok the iPhone 5c (9.3.1) does NOT disconnect. I had it with two iPhone 6s (9.3.5) and they disconnect and sometimes reconnect, but drop the Wi-Fi again. If you click on it manually to connect it asks for a password(?)  and connects and drops shortly after... And you can do that in and endless loop I tried it 12x, lol.

So it obviously has something to do with SC putting the phone on a different antenna because if I stay near router (same floor) it's ok with SC on. And always works with SC off at any distance even outside. It's only a problem when I go on 2nd floor or outside with SC on. Also when I do first connect on the 2nd floor with SC on my Wi-Fi signal is full so its not due to a weak signal.

Now what? ha ha

Thanks,

Ryan

I'm losing Internet.  The dir890l router(192.168.0.1) is behind 1 asus router(192.168.1.1), 2 TP Link unmanaged stitches (8 & 5 port).

F/w 1.09 wasn't  a problem for 5 weeks.

Didn't notice until last night that all my devices connected to it had no Internet.  Checked ethernet wire to confirm i didn't unplug accidently from switch.

Reboot router last night.  Ahhhh, Internet back.

This morning - local devices only.  No Internet.

Dir890l says I'm connected to Internet, but I can't get out.

Other asus router( 192.168.2.1) connected to the 8 port switch has Internet.

The only change was the f/w. It's in router mode.

So do you have both the 890L and a ASUS router online at the same time? Are they connected to a switch?
Recommended connection configuration should be the 890L connected directly behind the ISP modem/ONT, then any LAN network switches connected behind the 890L.

I haven't lost any internet at all. I did notice that my DCS-933L was disconnected around 12:30AM last nite.
Router Connection Uptime:    1 Day 14 Hour
No reboots on the router though.

It stopped working again sometime overnight.  My phone couldn't get out.

I think ASUS says to put their routers in front of Dlink  :o hehehe

I power cycled the modem - things still wouldn't connect to outside even thought DIR-890L shows it as connected.

Hardwired a laptop to the DIR-890L, and it wasn't working.  Had to leave and come back, and it was working on that laptop.  Downloaded the win10 anniversary update patch I guess.

(https://s17.postimg.org/m87brvx9r/network.png) (https://postimg.org/image/hz2lppu0b/)pic upload (https://postimage.org/)

RT-N65R is 192.168.1.1
Asus RT3200 is 192.168.2.1
Dir890L is 192.168.0.1.  Everything local is working (DIR-202L).  Can connect and view.  Just can't go web surfing when its not cooperating.

I'll try one more night and see what happens.  Then I can try to reboot the RT-N65R tomorrow and see if that helps.

Then I can go back to 1.09 and see what happens next week.

Can you configure the 890L where the N65R is and make the 890L the main host router and leave off the other wireless?

Seems like you have a bit much going on here..

Is the 890L connected by WAN or LAN and are you using it as a router or just an AP?

How close is the Asus 3200 in proximity to the 890L?

No, and this isn't a wireless issue.

Is the 890L connected by WAN or LAN and are you using it as a router or just an AP?

890 connected via ethernet to the switch. In router mode. AP mode is not desired.

How close is the Asus 3200 in proximity to the 890L?

Signal is good to both.  Not a wireless issue.

Ran 4 weeks in 1.09 without issue.. had 2 androids connected to dir-890l... upgraded to 1.10, and didn't connect the dots .. laptop wasn't going outbound.

My main laptop is connected wireless 5Ghz to the dir 890l and has ethernet into the switch 8 port switch... so I wouldn't have detected outbound issues... (This laptop is unlike lower model laptops that turn off wireless when ethernet is connected).

I'm seeing the same issues on FOUR iPhones and THREE iPads. It seems that any distance away from the 890L with SC enabled will cause the wifi signal to drop and the devices switch to cellular or no connection. All devices prior to being disconnected have a FULL / STRONG WIFI SIGNAL.  No issues w/ previous firmware. This doesn't seem to be a problem on the iMac, MacBook Pro Retina, or MacBook Air.  Perhaps an issue w/ devices running iOS and not OS X???   Might need to go back to previous firmware as this is not acceptable.  >:(

I'm also noticing issues when running speed tests on the iOS devices (iPhones / iPads).  It seems I'm only getting 30% - 45% of my subscribed ISP speeds (100 down / 5 up).  As the speed test is running, the speeds decrease as the test nears it's completion for DOWNLOAD only.  Upload appears to be fine.

I'm wondering if the issue might be one of the 5GHz radios (Primary), as speed tests run on an OS X device (iMac / MacBook Pro Retina / MacBook Air) are 100 down / 5 up on the 5GHz Secondary radio.

I was really hoping this latest firmware update wouldn't cause issues.  I remember the same type of issue w/ the DGL-5500 where a newer firmware update was actually MUCH WORSE than the previous firmware.  Hopefully D'LINK can look into these issues we're experiencing with the 890L sooner than later  ::)

I went back to the previous firmware (1.09.14)  :-\

All seems to be working like it did before.  It's too bad the latest firmware release is causing issues with WIFI connectivity.  I really like the new /added features.  It seems when D'Link fixes one or more issues, NEW issues pop up.  Still a solid "ruuter" though, IMO.  Hopefully D'Link will iron out these latest issues, and DROP THE DHCP RESERVATION LIMIT!!   ::)

All is good since reverting back to previous firmware (1.09.14). No issues with devices dropping from wifi. I sure wish the latest firmware wasn't causing the issues we are seeing. I really like the newly added features of the latest firmware release 👍😀👍

Same issues here. 1.10 causes frequent disconnects with every WIFI device. I installed and did a factory reset. Flashed back to 1.09 and i'm issue free again. There is definitely a problem within 1.10.

Would one of you try the following and load v1.10 again and test?
Emergency Recovery Mode (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=44909.msg163599#msg163599)
Please test with SC enabled and then SC disabled. Please post results of both. Include any speed test screen captures please.

I'll post this information in the bug list and get it to D-Link for review.

Thanks, will add this to the list. Sent this to D-Link for review. Please be patient.

I'll recommend that if users are having issues on v1.10, revert back to v1.09.

What iOS versions are currently loaded on the iPhones and iPads?

Quote

TOO ANY 890L users with a bit of time. Were looking to collect the following for your configuration, ISP modem Mfr and Model, ISP service UP and Down speeds, wireless Mfr and OS loaded and v1.10 needs to be loaded and set up, then a save configuration to file collected. You can use random SSID names and no PWs before you save to file. D-Link is looking into these issues with v1.10 and would like to gather this information which will help them review and test and should help them resolve this issue. Any and all information gathered is kept confidential and only with in D-Link support. Please send me a PM and let me know if you can help with this. I'll have a special link to upload the files and information needed. I recommend using .ZIP to zip up the config file and use Word or Word pad or a simple test program to generate the other system configuration data.

Thank you.

Just an update - I went back to 1.10 and sent files as requested.

I did some more testing - My wired laptop was working.. Samsung phone had issues, wireless 5Ghz laptop with issues (but some how self corrected one time).

I disabled smartconnect for my overnight test.

Me too....Both Enable and disable. With SC enable it was a problem every day, With Disable not as frequent. But still a problem.  Biggest problem was that the whole unit suddenly disconnects from internet totally and freezes.

I would like you to move the DIR-890l up to where the main host router is and test with v1.10 if possible.

Installed the 1.10 today using the standard procedure.  Major issues with wifi disconnects.  My Roku 4, which has been 100% rock solid with this router on all other firmware, can't hold a connection at all.  My Chromecast Audio also bugged out on the hi-fi.  This was all the case with SC enabled (and which was never an issue before).

Reverting back to previous 1.09 solved it all.  Like others said, it is a shame since the new features looked and sounded great.

Reverted to the previous release and all is good again.

Thanks!

I just signed into my router and it is now prompting me to upgrade to 1.10 (no release suffix specified), with a release date of 9/21/2016.     Do you suppose that they have fixed 1.10 for auto-update?  The support site still lists 1.10.B07 with a release date of 8/23/2016.

Can you try this new dated version and test it? You can always go back to v1.09.

I am having same issue reported by many here with latest firmware where my Devices are dropping wireless connections.  I have mixture of devices, I've noticed it on my Samsung Note 7, Samsung Tab Pro 8.4 and ipad mini's.  Had to disable smart connect for devices to stay connected.

I'd like to revert to the previous firmware but when I manually upload 1.09 14 I get a failed operation.

How can i revert to an older firmware?

Look forward to next update hopefully fixes these issues asap.
Title: DIR-890L FW v1.10 Build 07 Installed 9-23-16 problems remain
Post by: kvedt on September 25, 2016, 09:14:10 AM
Installed the FW v. 1.10 07 downloaded on 9/23/2016 and am experiencing WiFi drops and reconnects on all android mobile devices, happening roughly once every two minutes or so. WiFi disconnects on Roku and Nvidia Shield (which uses Google android TV over its own OS) also happen, but not as frequently, perhaps because those do not move around the house. Windows PCs seem to be the most stable, but my current work has me at my wired tower rig instead of my WiFi laptop. Wired connections are stable. Turning SC off helps some, but not completely.

My first impression was that SC was being overzealous in trying to move each device to the very, very, very, super-very best connection it could possible find for that device, and doing it by using machine logic, meaning a straight Boolean algorithm of "if better connection exists then change channel, count 60 seconds, repeat; else repeat" along with a similar instruction for band. (Yeah I know, I made that up and I do not program firmware, but it's not the point). But that would not explain why it also happens when SC is turned off, unless there is something similar that is used under all circumstances. Or most likely of all, it has absolutely nothing to do with my wild and uninformed hypo-guess-thesizing.

As FYI if it's  even remotely useful: DIR-890L is attached directly to an up-to-date DOCIS Motorola modem, and there are three direct wired connections from the router to different NAS devices, and one wired connection to a switch. The switch is connected to cables in the walls; one of the wall connections goes to a DAP-1650 AC AP, one to another switch, and one to my tower rig. Not that it should matter, but there is another DAP-1650 closer to the router that is set up as a media bridge using an AC wireless connection. Mobile devices include three android phones, an android tablet, and an iPad, plus the Shield and Roku devices. All OS's are kept up to date. For what it's worth, throughput using Speedtest.net averages 94 MBPS download, and 11.6 Mbps upload, at least when it's connected (Cox cable).

Can't think of anything else I might be able to add that might be useful in some way, and know that what I did put up here is pretty unlikely to be useful either.

As for me, I'm now going back to 1.09.

I wish D-link speed and good luck in getting this resolved.

Hi All,

There has been a change to the 1.10 version on the D-Link site but i'm not sure if it is the same version or if it has been fixed. If you go to the support site, you'll see 1.10 there however the release notes are gone and the date of the version is September 28th. I did a chat with D-Link and they had no idea if this is a re-release of 1.10 correcting the issues or not. The file size is identical to the version that caused all the issues. Has anyone tried it?

The post about being a more recent date on the routers update page was seen that differs from thats posted back in August 23rd.
Users have mentioned that it seems to be the same v1.10 version that exhibits the same problems as the one posted on the main web site.

Users can upgrade to v1.10 by using what is found on there routers update web page and try it out to see if it works. If you seem to have the same problem as mentioned by others, then you can go back to v1.09.

D-Link is aware of the issues with v1.10 and is working to correct it and I presume and hope that the next FW update will have it corrected.

Thank you for your patience.

Why don't I see this on the .ca or .com site? Post link please I will try it.

Thanks,

R

Its only available thru the routers FW update UI.

My router notified me of the 1.10 firmware update.  Has this problem been fixed?

Thanks,

Paul

Just as an update - D-Link has removed 1.10 from their update site. Hopefully it is fixed soon!

Still shows up when I check it... v1.10.B07

I reverted back to 1.09 as 1.10 constantly dropped my iPhone connection.  1.09 doesn't have this issue.

Agree on all parts, exept 1.10 keeps dropping on ALL devices incl Android and laptop's also. 1.09 is much better but still gets outperformed by my ASUS AC5300, The Asus stays until D-Linkt really improves. Oterwise Bye Bye....even though D-Link has some nice features in "Parent Control".

Please keep v1.09 on the 890L for now. v1.10 B07 is available however users have expressed problems with this version. Please revert to v1.09 if you have loaded v1.10 and are experiencing problems. D-Link is aware of the issues and is working on it. Please be patient.

With and without the firmware upgrade, my iPad,  iPod touches and LG cellphone are seeing multiple back to back disconnects within a 2- 3 minute window.
I factory reset the Dir-890 and had believed the problems had gone away but last night was proven wrong.  At times I feel like it is games and App related.  Tried playing a couple of online specific games on the iPad and keep getting disconnected.
Cables into the router appear good most of the time but randomly once a weekish my Ethernet hub connected to the hub will have to be power cycled to get it reconnect to router.

Ideas... haven't tried turning off Smart Connect ... and I also haven't tried turning 5G wifi to only use a specific connection.

Try with SC disabled and see.
Try with 5Ghz disabled and see.

This version wasn't recommended by some users as users had seen problems with this similar to what your seeing.
You might give either v1.11 a try: http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=65885.0 (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=65885.0)
or v1.10 b07 Beta from the Canadian site a try: http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=66025.0 (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=66025.0)

Please review this and see if reducing the power on the wifi radio helps:
