Title: Can't connect to wireless
Post by: itguy1024 on June 22, 2015, 07:00:23 AM
Hi All,

So I can't get my DCS-932L to connect to my Cisco 3200 Access Point. It works fine with a network cable plugged in.
Everything else I have (tablets, laptops) connects fine.

The security is WPA, devices connect as WPA/WPA2
Camera can see the SSID when it scans and I can put in the password

Any ideas?

Whats the channel width set for on the 3200?
Can the camera connect to the 3200 if you temporarily disable security on the 3200? Re-enable after testing...

Channel width is 20MHz however I have it set to use least congested frequency in 1-11

I haven't tried to disable security.

Let us know the test results with WPA security disabled...

I wasn't aware the cameras had their own webpage you can go to and configure things. So I just registered the camera with mydlink then went to the cameras webpage and set up the wireless there rather than in the setup wizard. Even doing that I still can't get it "on" the wireless. The AP shows authentication error for the camera.

I have it set for WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK  which is how everything else connects. And it shows the passkey in plain text so I know that's right.
Tried DHCP and static IPs.

I turned off the WPA security and it was able to join the wireless (light stays green) but then it says can't connect to mydlink server.

Post the results of InSSIDer here in the forums so we can see whos near by.

Ensure that any onboard camera AP or repeaters is disable while we troubleshoot this

Try WPA2 only...

Suppose you don't have a different AP or main host router to test the cameras with?

Here's the InSSIDer.

Also I tried WPA2 and no luck.

Is the HIVE yours? Using channel 4 isn't recommended. Your surroundings is kind of busy with other Wifi.

Lets try channel 1 as others on 1 are farther away.

The Hive is mine, yes.

I tried other channels including 1, same issue.

Any chance you can take the router to a different location to see if you can set it up there? Say a friend or familys place just to see if you can get it working there? I presume if the problem follow, that the camera could be faulty.  :-\

I might have a different router / ap sitting around to try but I'll need to configure them.

I'll post how that goes when I have some time to work on it.

A lot of work for a 30 dollar web cam haha  :o

That would be a good test.

Please let us know how it goes...Sorry for all hassle. Just trying to help narrow down where the fault is...take some steps sometimes. Sometimes problems can be easy to fix, sometimes not.  ::)
