Need Replacement 2TB HD
« on: December 06, 2010, 11:05:06 AM »

Hi:

One of the drives in my 323 is starting to fail.  The drive is a WD Caviar Green 2TB EADS.  The NAS is running in standard mode (non RAID).  Stores in my area are no longer carrying the Caviar Green 2TB EADS they are all now EARS.   I need 2TB capacity.  Is there a 2TB drive from another manufacturer that will work without issues in the 323?

Your help appreciated.  Thanks

Have you searched Amazon or other online retails for the same drive / model number?

Hello JavaLawyer

I am in Canada.  My choices are limited.  Amazon does not carry internal hard drives in Canada.  I'm looking for a model number or substitute for the 2tb caviar green that will work in standard non raid config in the 323.

You might look at Hitachi.  They still use 512 byte sectors.  I just installed 6 of them and they work great.  As for compatiblity with the WD I would guess they would work but since I have not done it I cannot say for sure.  The model number that I used was the 7k2000.
