Wireless connection issue
« on: October 28, 2015, 01:19:21 PM »

Hello everybody,

I recently got a new router (Linksys WRT 1900 AC) and I'm having issues reconnecting my camera. Everything was working fine on the previous router, however. I'm also able to reach the camera locally via Ethernet.

Camera model:  DCS-2050L (located in the USA)
Current Firmware Version :    1.12.03
Current Firmware Date :    2015-09-09
Current Agent Version :    2.0.19-b73

I tried the WPS option, the router marked the operation as successful but the camera did not connect.
Then I turned off the WPS option on the router, and I entered the wifi information manually. Still no luck.
Just to be sure, I rebooted the camera and router, even did a factory reset on the camera but nothing changed.

In the "Wireless Status" I can see:
Connection Mode   Infrastructure
Link   No
SSID   HOMENET (MAC : 00 00 00 00 00 00)
Channel   11
Encryption   WPA2-PSK:AES

Any guidance to troubleshoot this is greatly appreciated. Unfortunately I cannot keep the camera connected by Ethernet due to its usual location, so if the wifi is not working I won't be able to use it anymore :(

Thanks for your help.

Link>Welcome!

What FW version is the main host router?
What wireless modes are you using?
What is the distance between the Camera and the main host router?
I recommend setting a static IP address ON the cameras outside of the main host routers default DHCP IP address pool: DHCP

Try using B/G/N mode, auto channel width, manual channel 1, 6 or 11 and WPA Personal Only, not mixed. I have my DCS-933L conntected to my WRT1900AC running in bridge mode and works well. I'm using channel 11. WRT was up for over 60 days before a power outage yesterday morning.  >:(

Thanks for your reply.

- Router version is 1.1.10.167514 (the latest as far as I can tell)
- Distance is about 10 yards, 1 non load bearing wall between the two
- I tried a few modes but currently I left it back on mixed (for network and security mode)

I also thought about about the static IP and I set this up, I'll review the other post to see if I missed anything.

Now something a bit peculiar: I turned on the "Extender Setup" feature and configured it, after rebooting the camera I was able to get it to connect on the wifi ... go figure.

Figures.

Well, give the B/G/N mode a go long with WPA2 Personal Only, not mixed mode.

Ya I commend setting a static IP address On the camera to 192.168.1.20. I have uPnP and uPnP Port Forwarding both enabled on my camera. Been working well however I do not have the wifi extender enabled on mine.  ;)

Let us know how it goes.
