I found  http://blog.dlink.com/change-video-clip-length-wi-fi-camera/ and it shows how to alter the recording time on D-Link cameras.

But the 8010 has no web UI. does that mean I can't change the recording time?

Correct. This camera only records when motion and/or sound detection and will continue to record until motion or sound has stopped.

Hey
As I understand your camera didn't record any motion or sound.
Actually, this is happening due to your camera specification your camera do one thing at a time so when you start motion its works on motion but then just you start to sound your motion stopped.
Hope you understand this
Thanks
