Title: Netflix not working on a LG BD300
Post by: Equis on February 04, 2009, 12:10:40 AM
I can't get the LG to stream Netflix, I searched the forum, and one suggest for an XBOX 360 to disbale SPI I did that hoping it work. I even tried puttin the LG on the DMZ, it does not work. The LG is on a wired connection so I don't see there is an issue with the connection, I know it has to be the router doing something funky, as everything else works.

I forgot to mention, running 1.15 firmware. Aside from the DMZ I also tried to reserve the IP for it, and manually set the LG to that IP. What happened was the same thing as a Dynamic IP on the LG, it would show a connection for internet, but then disconnect.

I get the menu for Netflix, but it seems the connection is lost soon afterwards, what can I do to fix this.

Very disappointed.

DGL4500 firmware 1.15 and I have the same problem with the BD300 just can't connect to netflix for streaming.  I also tried everything with the router with no success.  D-Link fix this problem please or else it's going in the garbage.

The bd300 gives me a "cannot connect to internet error". I'm currently using my zyxel router with no problems and the settings where set up the same.

I have the Zyxel router also, amazingly not actually the LG works with the router, with the D-Link not at all.

The good:
Intuitive and responsive browser interface; Gigabit LAN and WAN; excellent range; easy to setup; Network Activity Display offers quick access to a variety of network information; preset with a lot of settings for special services and applications, including games.

The bad:
 Random reset during heavy load.

The bottom line:
The D-Link DGL-4500 GamerLounge Xtreme N Gaming Router almost succeeds for home networking and hardcore gamers. It bears a few flaws, among which is a random reset during heavy load that might be the deal breaker.

Is this why NETFLIX won't work with the DGL-4500?? If this is the case, it indeed is a deal breaker! Someone from D-Link please let me know what is going on, I spent as much on this D-Link as I did for this Blu-Ray player with Netflix.

Why isn't anyone from D-Link responding to this post.  The longer we wait to fix this more and more people will have the same problem and start to complain. D-Link we need your help!!!! :o

I'm checking in to the stream type for that service. I'm guessing it's RTSP, but I could be wrong. If it is wrong, I'll need to do more research. If it is RTSP, we may have a firmware issue.

Also have you tried unchecking the RTSP alg in the Advanced Firewall section?

Hopefully they didn't forget about us....

I just brought over a Samsung BD-2550, same problem as the LG. I was hoping it was the LG at fault, but it seems it's something with the router. I am sure now, how is it two different netflix players will not work, but with a straight connection from the modem.

Thanks for looking into it. I want to use this Netflix box so badly, now I am using my laptop but the aspect is screwed up because of the resolution.  :'(

I had to "dumb down" my DIR-655 router by re-installing version 1.11 of the firmware. Versions 1.21 and 1.20 would not work. Now Netflix works fine again.

How do you downgrade the DGL-4500? I'm on 1.15, and I tried installing the original retail, I think it was 1.02 that it came with.

Well I just got off the phone with CS, and they made me do some changes to the router. It kind of helps but not much.

MTU from 1492 to 1482

Enable UPnP, from an other thread to disable.

Then for some reason he wanted me to mess with the advance wireless so;
Beacon period 100 to 80
RTS threshhold 2347 to 2100
Fragmentation threshold 2346 to 2100

Well at least for the first time I can stream, even though it looks like cr@p.
So hope that helps with who ever needed something.

UPDATE:

Well got up this morning, and the LG wont stream now. It was working for a bit last night, but now it just loads the movie poster previews.

I've forwarded the issue to our PM group.
They will attempt to make contact with LG and see if a fix is possible.
That being said I'm locking this thread.
If someone feels I've wronged them in doing so PM me and I'll unlock the thread.
