DLINK DI-524
« on: January 07, 2018, 06:14:13 AM »

Hi all tried to post this enquiry in non listed dlink area but says link is missing or  I am not authorised  anyway have this Dlink DI524 and its working fine as a bridge from a Thompsons router in the hallway . The router is connected to the Thompson router by LAN so I get 5 bar connection in the lounge using my older windows 7 Acer laptop HOWEVER when I use my Toshiba windows 10 laptop it refuses to connect as it says the security is not secure enough and asks me to change the security configuration to WEP I think it said . I have tried accessing the dlink when connected with the Acer but does not give me access ie page not available , so I disconnected the DLINK from the internet ie Thompson router  and then  connected a LAN direct to the dlink , but still no success . I tried it to the WAN port also but again no go . I didn't really want to do a factory reset of the dlink as it means setting up the dlink as a bridge again, and to be honest I cant remember how I did it ... so how can I access the dlink or am I doing something wrong ?  The router details are

MODEL DI-524
Firmware 2.02
h/w B.3

Any help appreciated

Are you trying to access the DI router using the IP address it gets from the main host router?

Problem maybe that the DI router is older legacy wifi which is WPA only I believe and newer devices support newer generation WPA and WPA2 security modes so they may not work well with the older WPA mode.

You may have factory reset the DI router and set it up from scratch and configure it for AP mode if your using it as a 2ndary wireless AP:
Turning a router into an AP.

If you can't get the DI router working with newer generation device, I presume the DI router needs to be retired and replace with something newer. You can get and find 2nd hand DIR routers online and use them in the same configuration as a 2ndary wireless AP.
