PS4 Won't Connect to Wi-Fi and Router Will Not Downgrade Firmware with 1.02 BETA

MrTriTanium:
Hardware: A1
Firmware: 1.02B01 BETA
Region: USA

I installed the 1.02B01 BETA primarily for the KRACK fix. The next day my roommate tells me that he cannot connect his PS4 to Wi-Fi and gets a "weak connection" error code. The router and PS4 are roughly 15 feet apart, and there is one wall between them. My phone, his phone, and his laptop are all able to maintain a strong connection at the same location as the PS4, and throughout our apartment. Smart Connect is off, though it wouldn't matter since the PS4 only has 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi.

We verified the connection settings on the PS4 to be correct, nothing in the router settings has changed or would have caused issues, and I switched Wi-Fi bands to see if interference could be causing the loss in connection. I changed the Power Settings of the router between Low, Medium, and High, and the PS4 connected on the Medium strength for about 5 seconds, and never connected again.

I have reset the router to defaults and that has not fixed the PS4's connection issues. The next thing I tried was downgrading the firmware to 1.01B04 as there were no issues with that firmware. The firmware installation instantly failed even though I used a desktop connected to the router via etherent. I used Firefox v57 64-bit to flash the firmware the first time, and tried Edge v42 in Windows 10 build 17046.1000 (current Fast Ring build as of this post). Edge failed too. Chrome 62 64-bit and Internet Explorer 11 failed too. I tried 1.00B13 and that failed on all browsers too. I even tried renaming 1.01B04 to 1.03B04 to see if the router wouldn't flash firmware of a lesser version, and that failed.

I used a screen recording app to record the firmware flash to catch the error code that quickly flashed before it said "Firmware Upgrade Failed!" The error code said "Device name given is invalid..." I'm not sure how that is the case when the firmware is downloaded directly from D-Link. The recording can be found at https://gfycat.com/AcceptableSelfassuredAnt

The Beta firmware is the issue as the PS4 has no problems connecting to two different computers using a network created with the Mobile Hotspot feature built in Windows 10.

Any suggestions in how to downgrade?

The only other issue I have encountered (using all firmware versions) is that the 5Ghz Wi-Fi will intermittently drop for a few seconds and re-connect. That happens with my Sprint LG G6, but not with my roommate's T-Mobile iPhone 7+.  My Sprint HTC 10 struggles to hold on to 5Ghz a foot away from the router with direct line of sight.

Can the PS4 connect to the default settings of router?

I'm seeing the firmware upgrade failure. Work around is to use the emergency firmware update page, for now.

FurryNutz:
Please try some of the suggestions before reverting back to previous FW version.

ISP: Comcast. I think the service is cable. Subscribed speed is 150Mbps down.
Modem: Arris SB6141; no idea what hardware revision my modem is (if there are any revisions).

SSIDs are/were different between 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. Smart Connect is/was off. 2.4Ghz was set to mixed g and n, and 5Ghz was set to mixed n and ac. Channel width is/was set to auto, same for the Wi-Fi channel used.
The tests were ran with 2.4Ghz on Channel 11, or the router determined Channel 11 was the best option at the time. 5Ghz router was set to Channel 149.
WPA2 is the security settings used.

I set the 2.4Ghz Channel to 11 today to test that, and it still failed. The error code the PS4 provided is NW-31294-9; weak signal strength. Right after that failed test, my LG G6 showed the same 2.4Ghz network had a signal strength of -36dBm.

My apartment complex is wired for Comcast (but not required), so there are numerous other residents that have a Comcast-provided router with networks for their own use and broadcasting a network for their free public Wi-Fi network. Acrylic Wi-Fi Home is picking up almost 40 different Wi-Fi networks on 2.4Ghz, and 20 networks on 5Ghz. Most 2.4Ghz networks are on Channel 1, with Channel 6 and 9 having around 8 networks a piece. 5Ghz is evenly split between Channels 36 and 149 in 4-channel MIMO.

The PS4 was not able to connect to the router using the default settings created after a reset on the Beta firmware.
