Title: DWA-160 A2 not connecting to WPA2-AES
Post by: opers13 on October 24, 2011, 07:56:20 AM
We are seeing issues where our D-Link DWA-160 A2(1.80 Drivers and WinXP) does not connect to a WPA2-AES SSID (not hidden)at all.

So we found out that if we connect to an OPEN SSID first, disconnect and and connect to the WPA2-AES SSID..it connects right away! So not sure whats the issue with DWA-160 and WPA2-AES, and the reason behind connecting to an OPEN SSID to "fix" the issue.

We are able to replicate this same behavior multiple times on multiple devices taking the exact same steps.

Has anyone experienced this at all?  Since this being an A2 hardware (Atheros) could this be the issue?

Not sure if this will help.

Double click on the Wireless Icon on the RHS of Task Bar. In the Wireless Network Connection Status box that appears, click on Properties.

In the Wireless Network Connection Properties box, click on the Wireless Network tab.

In the Preferred networks area click (highlight) your network in the box.  remove any unwanted networks using the Remove button.

After highlighting your network, click on Properties then in the new window, click on the Connection Tab.

In the Connection tab window make sure that 'Connect when this network is in range' is ticked.  If this does not work you need to confirm that the signal strength is not the problem.

Also I would recommend Windows 7 as the wireless network management has been improved.

Hope this helps.
