hey guys i need some help. Seems like my DIR-615 C1 wont do any firmware upgrades. I have tried it in emergency mode too and nothing. Can someone help me out? i'm stuck on firmware 3.10 and i cant connect my PS3 or iphone to my router. My WBR-1310 was better than this POS. lol

That is very strange. I suppose you tried both official firmware and DD-WRT? Is there any specific error you receive?

Have you tried the latest, from:  ftp://dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/12-24-10-r15962/dlink-dir615c1/dir615c1-factory-to-ddwrt-firmware.bin ?

I'll try the one you linked. The DD-WRT link for C1 doesnt work

If you refer to the link on the first page, namely ftp://dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/[most_recent_date]/dlink-dir615c1/ , then yes, it isn't supposed to work as it contains [most_recent_date]. This needs to be replaced with the actual date.

You can go to ftp://dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/ click on the latest date and continue with the path from there.

Anyway, did the one I linked to work?

So the newest one is the 12/24/10 one?

And yes the link worked, but didnt work on my router.

What browser are you using to perform the upload? Try a different one.

"Connect over a WIRED connection to the router and set your network adapter IP MANUALLY to 192.168.0.2"

How do I do this? I'm trying to restore the original firmware, but keep halting on this section. Any help would be appreciated. (I'm using XP, btw).

I still can use only the 14311 firmware from dir-615 e1, while I have the e4 router. Any of the native firmwares don't connect to L2TP, and the current drops connection sometimes, and I have to reboot the router to restore it. Need help!

I have D3 revision with 4.12 firmware and I am not satisfied with the wireless signal.
I have one question: If I use dd-wrt firmware the wireless will work better (better signal)?

Thank you!

Installed the DD-WRT firmware just now. I'm glad i did it. Now my wireless devices can actually connect and stay connected.

So far all i have done is change the router username and password, and setup the WPA2 personal security. Is there anything else i should do?

Please help.

I'm using Win 7 .... try this..

1.  open control panel
2.  open "network and sharing" in the control panel
3.  Select "Manage network connections".
4.  Click "local area connection".
5.  A dialog box will pop up and click on "properties".
6.  Select "internet protocol version 4"
7.  select on "use the following ip address"
8.  enter the IP address
9.  Click ok -- ok -- ok...  Done!!

hope this helps...

Pretty much what jl449 said. Add netmask as 255.255.255.0 too and it's right click on Local Area Connection 1 or 2, or whatever one is active (doesn't have a red x mark over it).

If you still can't manage it search on Google for:  configure fixed ip settings windows xp, or something similar. There are countless of guides that contain images. This is a Windows operation. It has nothing to do with DD-WRT or D-Link or routers, so it is kind of pointless to wait 3 days for an answer on a forum dedicated to these when you can find the solution within minutes on Google.

Also, weird with the laptop no longer connecting though. I doubt it's because of DD-WRT. Have you modified any of the settings? Set the wireless mode to mixed, set wireless security to WPA2 Personal with AES.
