Author Topic: Camera Offline in Mydlink Home and Motion detection not working well in darkness  (Read 7695 times)

Hi,

I have two problems:
I bought this camera (935) 3 weeks ago and installed everything and could briefly use camera with Mydlink Home. But pretty soon it stopped working and now it only says Camera Offline.
I have installed Mydlink Lite and there it works fine.

Another issue I am having is that motion detection works really poorly in darkness. If Im really close to the camera it will detect me but if I am 1-5 meters away it cannot detect me. I can see myself on camera in the darkness but it does not detect me.

I had no problems with triggering image and video upload to FTP, so atleast that is working. However, I would really like to improve accuracy in semi-darkness and darkness. Any thoughts?

Not sure how well detection works in darker Light. Is Night Vision supported on this model camera?

Hi.

Thanks for the link on issue 1).

My Dlink DCS-935L (Monitor HD) should:
"see in complete darkness up to 5 meter with build in Night vision"
I assumed this mean that it would also DETECT motion at night. Maybe I hoped for too much?

I presume the detection works during the day time?

What FW Version is currently loaded?
What Mfr and model is the main host router?
What wireless modes are you using?
What is the distance between the Camera and the main host router?
I presume Nightvison is enabled. Can you set the nightvision setting to always ON and test?
Are there any sensitivity settings on the cameras web page that can be adjusted?

Was the FW recently updated?
Was a factory reset performed after the update then set up from scratch?

I updated the firmware when I first installed the camera October 1st. So, the firmware was updated before I started settting it up.

An update to the mydlink Home app solved the first problem. Maybe in combination with the new firmware v1.07.

The second issue, about poor detection performance in darkness, is still an issue that I do not know how to resolve.

I don't know the detecton in darkness performance. I'd run some tests to see at what distance it does seem to detect. Post your results.

Yesterday I did some test in semidark environment (camera had just switched to nightvision in the afternoon). I started from 8 meters away and had to move to less than 1 meter (3 feet) from camera before the camera could detect me.
During daylight it can detect me from 8 meters...

I can also add that I increased sensitivity to 95%. This has lead to that during daylight it now detects when sun is shining in on the house floor. Doesnt increase night vision detection though,,, =/

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.
