Yes we know that AC is only on 5Ghz. Were just making sure that in your testing that both radios are tested and results are seen for both.

Good to know about the S4s being the first to use AC.

Overall, AC is still new and I'm sure there will be bugs to work out.  ::)

That was my initial information I received, long with others exhibiting the same thing:

Think this is the same guy who started the post in the Android forum there.  ::)

Over the weekend I got lots of time to test. It has a issue about 3 times a day. I dont get any authentication errors. It just acts like there is no internet. I disable wifi and re enable it, then its fine.

And what are the wireless settings on the router when this occurs? And this is on the Samsung Galaxy? Do any other WiFi devices exhibit the same thing when this happens?

I am testing a setting on the S4. I will let you know if it fixes it.

Reading over the blog…  I experienced the same thing. But with 2 of my laptops. Have one MSI, 3-4 years old and almost brand new HP – i7. Almost everything I’m running at home is N 2.4G, except new Apple devices running at 5G. No old stuff.

I have V1.01 now (sorry upgraded almost right away, so not sure about V1.00). But the rest is the same. During last few weeks I got the situation when it chocks over a sudden and while all statuses reporting good healthy connections – I cannot go online. I haven’t tried to enable/disable. Just did reboot and it was OK for a while again.  All happened only while I was using 2.4G WI-FIs. I don’t believe I had seen any issues with 5G or with any wired connections.

I’ll keep eye, but working 2 jobs and don’t have enough time to play with new toy.
Overall – Like it so far, good range, better performance. Got a AC1200 stick, and it is works great. Have also busy network with over 10 devices online almost all the time. My kid has some issues to connect his XBOX online – but I didn’t get involved yet, since he is just refusing to let me troubleshooting ;). Saying wired works and he has no time to play with it. Sounds familiar? anyone?

What wireless modes are you using? Mixed all modes?
Any other neighboring WiFi routers near by?

What Mfr and model AC1200 adapter did you get?

For XBL please review this:
DIR-645/835/868L/865L/826L Gaming and Gamefuel for XBL

I keep it with defaults after upgrading to V1.01, I believe. The only mistake I did and I fixed it since – I changed DHCP IP Address Range to include 100…220, while I have a Synology server at XXX.XXX.XXX.200. Changed it to “100 to 180” about a week ago.
Now I have only 2.4G and 5G On and set to run 802.11n only (20/40Mhz, auto rate and AES).
There are other networks very far away (barely ever see them on the list).
Since I fixed the IP, disable guest account and set everything to 11n only I don’t think I’ve seen any issues as I described in my previous post.

Adapter I have is DLINK DWA-182. But used it only once or twice so far; works OK I believe.
I’ll check the XBOX post and will let you know if that would help.
Thanks.

Please let us know how the 182 works for you on AC mode on 5Ghz band and N mode on 2.4Ghz. Will be interested in your results.

Keep us posted.

Please let us know how the 182 works for you on AC mode on 5Ghz band and N mode on 2.4Ghz. Will be interested in your results.

Keep us posted.

More specifically, I'm curious how large file transfers (up and down) behave on the 5GHz AC/N bands using the DWA-182.

Well… Not sure If I like what I see so far. While disconnects are went away, range still isn’t very good. 15 ft away through 2 walls (just outside of the house) shows all bars but said "no internet connection" if trying to go online. And I agree that 5G seems to be working better in some cases than 2.4G, but... still weak.
Now – about the stick –
1.   Installation. I had tried it with my old MSI with Win 7 and new HP i7 with Win8. MSI installed it well and got all connected and sort of happy. Win 8 was a mess – while after some delays and doing something for a while installation was completed, but told me that cannot run management routine and I need to run it myself.  It worked after I manually got it connected, but didn’t like to detect the stick after I reboot the system. Going to device manager showed yellow exclamation mark near stick’s name. Enabling/disableling didn’t make any difference. Had to uninstall it and install it again. Worked again….
2.   Now – the speed… haven’t seen wireless speed reported anything higher than 173 for HP i7 and 144 on older MSI.
3.   Transferring rate (tested transferring single 2.443G ISO file to/from my Synology server connected via 1G network ) –  all in MB/s:
                                  868L-stick (5G)        868L-stick (2.4G)       868L-Build-in N adapter (2.4G)
MSI-to-server                    10.4                          7.8                                           5.52
Server-to-MSI                    8                              10.2                                         7.18
HPi7-to-server                   11..15                        10.6                                         6.65
Server-to-HPi7                   13.1..12.3                  12.3                                         8.02

Let me know what you think.
