Can you skip the setup wizard and go directly to the upgrade page?

Can you skip the setup wizard and go directly to the upgrade page?

I can get to all the settings of the extender as long as I am wired to router,  can do firmware upgrades through upgrade page.

If I unplug the LAN cable  it is not seen on the network.

I went back and re-read the entire thread....  ::)

Have you tried using the D-Link wi-fi app to setup the extender?

I sent emails asking for instructions and crash recovery procedures for the extender. There should be a way to hard wire a computer directly to the extender and access it...hopefully.

What exactly happens when you run the wizard? Do you get errors?

What happened is that during the upgrade using the 03_middle file it restarted on its own at the 50% done instead of waiting to get to 100% and then restarting.  The upgrade window was still open during the reboot because I was watching it and the lights. The Upgrade webpage was still open and showing the completion percentage the whole time, the upgrade process  got to 100 it said process complete

The setup wizard completes just fine and says it is syncing the devices, but the extender doesn't retain the settings

Remember, its not a real big deal to me as I am not using the extender right now anyways.  Hopefully you pulled it quick enough that no one else was effected.

That is strange that it would complete the wizard but not retain the settings. Thanks again for the info. I'm glad you are not dependent on the extender but this process should work without these issues and i agree hopefully no one else downloaded it.  :-[

To crash recover the extender:

1. Download an older firmware to your computer.
2. Connect the extender with an Ethernet cable directly to your computer. Set your computer a static IP of 192.168.0.2 / 255.255.255.0.
3. Hold in the reset button on the extender and unplug the power for 5 seconds and plug back in while holding the reset button down.
4. Keep holding until the LED turns red. Release. Give  a minute to boot.
5. Open IE 11 and go to http://192.168.0.50
6. The firmware recovery screen should appear. Load the firmware version you want.
7. Put your computer back to dhcp or whatever IP settings you had.
8. Press the WPS button on the extender and then the router. Wait 2 minutes.
9. Log into the router. Hopefully the extender is there? Run the wizard.

A tech is testing this now and hopefully will have the correct update instructions for the KRACK firmware.

How long should I need to hold in the reset button?  I don't get a red light just a continuous blinking yellow.  Held it for 2 minutes just blinking yellow.

A tech is testing the upgrade now. I will ask after he is done.

It usually takes like 10 seconds. As long as you were holding in the reset when the unit is off and held it as you plugged in the power, maybe it is yellow and not red.

When I apply power with reset pressed in, I get a quick orange followed by 4 flashing yellows, a solid yellow for a few seconds and then just more flashing yellows

hmm ok. Can you connect to it? 192.168.0.50 should bring up a firmware recovery page.

Is there an actual html page for the recovery page that I could type directly into the browser?

When you crash recover, when you go to just the IP address (192.168.0.50) it is the only page that can display. If you get the regular login, it did not crash recover. The recovery page is actually in the boot loader separate from the firmware.
