I think since its a set I would have to send back router and all, I am getting lazy in my old age and that seems like a lot of work  :)

Tell him to not remove the power during a firmware upgrade, unless of course he wants to, to see if he can bring it back to life.

He is still working on it and trying different things.  If he gets that far I will have him try it. On most devices the recovery mode will recover if power is lost during a firmware upgrade.

Come on, you cant' be that old. Maybe in forum years since you've been around since DIR-655 Rev A days.  :o

I presume if something happens, Greenbay and effect some form of RMA on the extender only, maybe.  ;)

Went to college for what they called "Data Processing" way back when, systems were all dumb terminals connected to a mainframe

Tech got it working.

Try crash recovery again. He said hold in reset button (power off and then on) until it starts blinking amber and release. When he releases, the LED goes solid amber for a little bit then starts blinking amber.

Use IE 11 and go to 192.168.0.1 (not 50). This should take you to the recovery page. Downgrade to 1.01. Start it and walk away for 15 minutes. He said it took a long time but the extender eventually rebooted and got 5 green LEDs and worked.

My first computer I touched was a continual paper feed form dot matrix terminal with analog hand set modem that you had to dial into to get the Sysop.  ::)

We had one of those in high school had to call into the regional BOCES with modem just to make them work.

I did have the keyboard controls for my Atari 2600 so I could program BASIC  ;D

Emergency page worked, but I still did not get my two green up arrow.  Reloading initial firmware through the main admin page (.50) and then will update to the 1.01B02 version.

Results are in : I now have 5 green lights on the extender, the router sees the extender and the extender retained the password settings through the wizard setup.
