I've successfully set up my DCS-932L camera for wireless connection via a Wifi access point. Note that I do NOT have physical access to the access point router. I am able to view the camera via the mydlink website using the Android app or a web browser. However the frame and bit rates vary considerably at different times, ranging from a high of 8 fps to a low of 1 or less fps. Sometimes I cannot connect at all or lose the video stream repeatedly. Also, the audio stream is periodically intermittent and/or non-existent.
The wifi access point the camera is connected to provides excellent video and audio quality to my laptop PC for applications such as Skype, YouTube, etc. Its uplink and downlink speed measures about 10 Mbps in both directions. It therefore seems odd that the bandwidth of the dlink camera connection via the same access point is so low and unreliable. The location of the camera is the same as the PC that has an excellent wifi connection to the internet, so it seem unlikely that the problem is wifi signal strength.
Any suggestions for changing any of the camera settings to improve this? Changing the wifi access point router settings is not an option because it is not my property and not physically accessible to me. However, that access point works just fine for other streaming video applications. I am wondering if it is just the variable delay and traffic of the dlink website used to relay the camera audio and video that is the cause. I have noticed a typical delay of about 5 seconds between movement in the room and when it appears via the website portal. Anyone having similar issues? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
