Title: Troubleshooting trick: broadcast ping+arp log
Post by: Ajuchna on December 28, 2006, 03:50:25 PM
Can't find a camera on your network using the camera installation wizard?

access the command prompt
start>run: cmd

ping the broadcast address
type: ping 192.168.0.255 and press enter

review the arp log
arp -a
You will see a list of all the adapters that responded, look for something in the usual DHCP range, such as 192.168.0.101

nice trick..we will try it as soon as we get the same problem with our cameras. By the way, any reasons why our software fails to see our cameras?

Time and lack of chatiness probably. You can try the trick above, but before using "arp -a" just run the search utility again. Let us know if that also works for you.
