Title: Slow transfer speeds on wifi lan between phone and pc.
Post by: joncenawordlife on July 15, 2015, 02:24:17 PM
Guys I have a DIR-600L router.
Current Firmware Version  :2.04

Everything works perfectly on my computer, internet is wired from my isp and so obviously my DIR-600L.

The only device I use wirelessly is my Sony xperia Z3 phone.

I access my computer from phone wirelessly to transfer data to free up phones memory.

---Now the real problem begins here....
I dont get transfer speeds more than 4.25mbps on my phone while I transfer data from phone to my pc.
Doesnt matter even if my pc is idle i.e. no internet activity etc.

---Steps I tried:
In router settings, tried Channel 13 but no use.
Computers lan card (Realtek RTL8168D/8111D Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC) is manually set to 100mbps lan speed.
My isp speed is 50mbps.

There arent more than 2 wireless routers of other people in my neighborhood and both of them use channel 1 and 4.
Also when I do such data transfer I sit in the same room as my computer and router. So no question of any interference.

I know 4mbps is just too slow and I should get more than that.

So please help me get more speed wirelessly for my phone data transfer.

Router Placement
Forum User - "Well I feel really dumb. After moving the router away from other electronic devices my speeds are back to normal. Just a heads up for anyone experiencing slow speeds, you might want to move it away from other electronics and see if that helps."
3-6' feet minimum safe distance between devices.
Placement on main level floor and central in the building and WELL ventilated is preferred. Not in basements or closets as building materials, or near by electronics devices could interfere or hinder good signal propagation.

Refer to the devices Mfr support site and information on connection rates and speeds the devise supports. Not all devices support fast xfer speeds which differ from connection rates.

I'm from India.

Router is placed away from electric interference.

So what changes shall I try to do in above settings?

Try Mixed G and B.
Disable 20/40Mhz Coexistance and Short GI
Disable WPS
