False DenonServer_E-Mail_Alert
« on: November 30, 2009, 10:54:16 AM »

I received around 5 emails this morning stating :
Left Hard Drive Has Failed
Right Hard Drive Has Failed
So i went to login to the configuration page and right on the login page it stated something like RAID 1 needs too be rebuilt using ex2 file system, I ignored the message, proceeded to login and restarted the dns323 server. all seems fine now 4 hours later and all 19,000 wav files files are fine. Yes I do have backups... I just wonder what caused the alert and If anyone else has received false email alerts.... I'm at firmware 1.06.. I'm using 2 seagate 1.5tb drives with the good drive firmware since Feb 09. Are there log files I can view?? All help/ideas are appreciated

Is you RAID status degraded when you log into the unit and goto your status page?

Thanks for the reply. When I logged in the status for RAID was fine (completed). In fact, all is well now but I still have no Idea what triggered the email

Have either of you tried the beta 1.08 firmware and run the scan disk or smart test?

How do you run a SMART test on the DNS-323 drives?  I know it's on the DNS-321...

Hmm of course I just downgraded the firmware on my unit from the 1.08 beta. I though it was added in this beta as well but I may be wrong I would have to double check but I don't have that firmware on my unit now. Anyways just the scan disk would at least be helpful to see the outcome or at least see if the messages continue under 1.08.

For now, since all of the emails were a one time event , I'll wait for the Final 1.08 firmware release, hopefully that will come out soon............
