Ok, I'm here to tell you and others, when doing FW updates on these routers...I HIGHLY recommend using IE or FF as your router management tool and don't use Chrome. Just the other day a guy bricked his 825 router while doing a FW update using Chrome. Were seeing other issues on the 865 forum for general router management while using Chrome. The guy refuses to try IE or FF. In most cases any browser should theoretically work on these routers and generally do. However, my experiences over the years in working with different browsers, I've come to the conclusion and knowing of what Mfrs test in there development of there products, using OS based and included browsers is a standard and should be used in FW updates. There are too many varioable and updates to Chrome that probably and do impact how Chrome works with devices web pages and doing FW updates.

Most testing and development is done using OS based installed browsers like IE for MS and Safari for Apple. These browsers are tested a lot. Chrome, FF and others probably are however not to the extent of what MS and Apple are and only tested as a courtesy and on a limited basis. Yes Chrome, FF and Opera are major browsers and favorites among the population, however that doesn't mean that Mfrs are testing them to the level we'd like.

So lets not take risks in FW updates and our devices. I highly recommend for doing any FW updates on these routers or any product as a matter of fact, Use IE first and foremost. FF and a 2ndary backup.

After that, using any browser for general router management should be good. Not trying to dissuade any one from using there preferred browser at all, just when it comes to FW updates, lets use something that has been tested well.

That's good info and probably should be stressed in the stickies (if it isn't already).

FWIW on my attempt today, I reset my settings to factory, once by clicking on the button in the GUI, let it clear and boot back up.  Then I reset it again using the red button on the back near the power button.

After that I let it boot up again, then flashed FW1.02 again, just to be sure since I flashed it dirty before.  After the flash and I verified that it was stable I reset to factory settings again (using just the reset button on the back near the power button).

After it booted up and was stable I configured it.  I'll monitor it and get back with you all as needed.

So far so good for me as well.  Normally, I'd see something bad happen by now.   :)

I'd like for you to do a factory reset, reload the same version of FW using IE this time, factory reset once more then test.
Did you still have BitDefender still active or inactive?

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?

When this router seems to lock up, can you still access the routers web page by chance? Using IE?
Have you viewed the 6120's modem logs when then happens? 857s logs?

You can access the Modems logs at 192.168.100.1. I would review these logs along with the 857 to see if you notice anything during the time frames you see the router hang or seem to loose internet connection.

Ok, so we know that this PC fails to connect using any PCs to the routers web page. Are there other PCs and or devices that exhibit the same problem when this happens? Can't connect to the routers web page?

I would do this, turn off ALL devices accept for one PC and see if anything happens. I Might even try turning off WiFi just as a test. I know seems a bit much however I'm trying to help you see if something connected to the router maybe causing this hang or if the router itself is the problem. Need to try to narrow it down to either the router or a device maybe.

Another test if you can and have some time. Disconnect the 6120 from the router. Just run the router with one PC connected to it. View the routers web page and see if the router hangs by itself. Even though you won't have internet, at least you can veiw the web page at some interval and see what happens.
