DAP2695 multiple ssid with vlan tags
« on: October 08, 2016, 04:19:49 AM »

Dear support/ Gurus.
I recently bought 2 DAP-2695, i try to configure multiple ssids and succeed, now I created VLANs and succeed, then I assign ssids with vlan .
VLAN=1 (default)
vlan= 16 (groupA)
vlan= 17 (groupB)

VLAN tagging details
VLAN 1 = Mgmt LAN1 LAN2 (TAG) , 2.4GHz MSSID Primary (un-tag) all other not-member, 2.4GHz WDS port W1 to W8 (not member) , 5GHz MSSID Primary (un-tag) all other S1 to S7 not-member, 5GHz WDS port W1 to W8 (not member)
VLAN 16 = Mgmt LAN2 (not member), LAN1 (TAG), 2.4GHz MSSID S1 (un-tag) all other S2 to S7 not-member, 2.4GHz WDS port W1 to W8 (not member) , 5GHz MSSID S1 (un-tag) all other S1 to S7 not-member, 5GHz WDS port W1 to W8 (not member)
VLAN 17 = Mgmt LAN2 (not member), LAN1 (TAG), 2.4GHz MSSID S2 (un-tag) all other S1,S3 to S7 not-member, 2.4GHz WDS port W1 to W8 (not member) , 5GHz MSSID S2 (un-tag) all other S1,S3 to S7 not-member, 5GHz WDS port W1 to W8 (not member)

now I configured my C2960 TTL port-1 as a trunk with allowed VLAN 1,16,17 connected with DAP-2695
then I configured my C2960 TTL port 24 as a trunk with allowed VLAN 1,16,17 connected with my DHCP server configured LAN interface with 802.1Q VLAN 1, 16, 17 TAGGING.
after some time 5 to 10 min. my DAP 2695 stops responding on LAN.
Please help me in this problem.

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your DAP? Look at the sticker under the DAP.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the DAPs web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

Hi,

nothing looks wrong, so I'd expect it to work!

But maybe the DAP device is sensitive to inconsistencies: Did you adjust PVIDs? They should be set to 16 and 17 for MSSID ports S1 and S2 respectively, or "PVID Auto Assign Status = Enable" will probably do this automatically.

Also, maybe it's not a good idea to use tagged VLAN 1 with DAP, so try VLAN 1 untagged for Mgmt, LAN1 and LAN2 and set "switchport trunk native vlan 1" for trunk port 1 of your C2960.

yes I adjust PVIDs manually and assigh 16 and 17 for MSSID port S1 and S2 respectively.
and let me try VLAN 1 (default) untagged for Mgmt, LAN1 and LAN2, and configure switch trunk as you said "switchport trunk native vlan 1", will let you know after this test.
But is my DAP available on VLAN 1 for management as I have VLAN 1 network for its management.? after changing theses all as you said.

Why not? Isn't VLAN 1 untagged for management even the default (because otherwise plug&play by connecting the DAP to unmanageable switches or to manageable switches with default settings (all access ports for VLAN 1 untagged) wouldn't work)? If you are in doubt, you still have a backup wireless management access via MSSID Primary ...
And as a last resort, no risk no fun, your DAP has reset button ...
