Just bought, a few questions
« on: December 23, 2014, 03:47:39 AM »

Hi all.

I just bought this camera and I come up with a few questions:

1.- How can I know if my camera is revA or revB in order to upgrade, if needed, the firmware?
2.- I saw in some posts that the DCS-932L has a URL for RTSP, but I tested with nmap and the RTSP port of the camera is closed and several programs fail when trying to connect to the RTSP stream.
3.- I detected a really BIG lag when accessing to the video stream through the video.cgi URL, and  a lot of connection errors using the D-Link software in my Android tablet. Is that normal?

I'm seriously thinking about returning it back to the seller because it doesn't fit to my requirements when I bought it...

Thanks in advance

Ok, answer to myself to one of the questions:

My model is a revA, this is printed in a label at the bottom of the box (H/W Ver.: A2, F/W Ver.: 1.09). I suppose there is no newer versions of the firmware for my model...

FW v1.09 is the latest version for the DCS-932L verA.

These cameras will experience a lag depending on how video is accessed. Network/connection speed and the number of concurrent users will further impact performance.

If the DCS-932L is accessed within a LAN via IP there will be a lag of <1 second up to ~2 or so seconds. This may vary. The lag for access via mydlink over the Internet may experience lags of ~6 seconds or perhaps longer depending on mobile device speed etc. Again, there are many variables impacting performance.

I should note that the DCS-932L is one of the oldest of all the active D-Link cameras. The successors to the DCS-932L, such as the DCS-933L have many HW and FW improvements over prior models. If your budget permits, you may consider stepping up to a newer model depending on your use case.

Oeps, so I had to keep the box? No way!

Basic Information says:
Camera Name: DCS-932L
Time & Date: 29 Dec 2014 2:36:42 P.M.
Firmware Version: 1.09 (2014-03-14)
Agent Version: 2.0.17-b60

I hope my camera is revB

RTSP not tested yet.
DCS-933L is less than EUR 60,=
DCS-935L had better resolution and is less than EUR 100,=

Your camera is Rev A.  Firmware v1.09 was only released for Rev A.  Rev B's initial release was with firmware v2.0
