"The request is forbidden." on DCS 2230
« on: December 01, 2016, 06:37:20 AM »

Hi everyone. I'll try to be clear because I have problems in english.

So, there is the problem. My DCS 2230 camera was going "well" yesterday but after the firmware upgrade (1.22 to 1.25 as I remember), the camera start having serious problem. Now, I can't go to his menu with the IP (in 192.168.x.xxx). It say "The request is forbidden." EVERYTIME. I tried so much things but nothing worked. I restarted the camera 1000 times, with the button behind and with a pen in the little hole for a factory recovery. I tried to disable my firewall, the windows Firewall, my antivirus etc... Nothing can make this tiny camera better. It continue to blink green, again and again. It never stop blinking. I read that it means the camera is in activity and its used on the network but I can't connect to it via Firefox,Chrome,Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge. I agree all ActiveX component, I download a lot of setup wizard for the camera (and for others), I tried so much but everytime, it continue to blink and I have "The request is forbidden". Its frustrating because before the firmware upgrade, it was relatively fine, I could connect with my ID and It works well.

Please, help. I'm really going to be crazy, I don't understand what's going on.

Thank you

Link>Welcome!

  • What region are you located?
v1.24 is only available for use at this time...
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=65009.0

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
What wireless modes are you using?
What is the distance between the Camera and the main host router?

Can you connect the camera with a LAN wire cable to the main host router then look up the IP address on the routers client table to see what IP address it may have received? If it has an IP address, you should be able to access the cameras web page using that IP address...

I recommend setting a static IP address ON the cameras outside of the main host routers default DHCP IP address pool as a troubleshooting step: 192.168.#.22 DHCP

Test cameras with uPnP and uPnP Port Forwarding both enabled on ALL cameras: DCS Cloud (L) Series Camera Configuration and Mydlink.com

PC Web Browser Configurations
What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE11, set compatibility mode and test again.

Hi !

I'm from France, in Europe.

I downloaded the 1.25 here : http://www.dlink.com/uk/en/support/product/dcs-2230-full-hd-wireless-day-night-camera
And I got the 1.24 in the same link (I tried to do a firmware downgrade without the IP connection on my browser but I failed).

I think its a WatchGuard router (I don't have the abilities to see it further, I don't know how it works on my entreprise)

I don't use wireless mode. I'm connected on the same switch as my computer (computuer on Windows 10 by the way).

I think its 3-5 meters. Its not that far but It worked before (and only on my computer connected to the switch).

I'll try to connect it on the main router but for now, I can't.

And of course, I don't have any support on my computer like a Wizard or anything else. Nothing that I downloaded worked or installed well.

Thanks for your answer, it was pretty fast !

Ok, I think the problem was the IP set with the DHCP. I set it to static IP like you tell me to do and now It worked. I can go to the browser menu and I can change the settings etc...

I'm on 1.25 firmware, did I have to downgrade it to 1.24 or did I just let I like that ?

Glad you got it working.
I'd leave v1.25 loaded for now and see how it works for you. v1.25 isn't available here in the NA region, yet.

Enjoy.  ;)

I believe his issue was an IP address configuration issue. Yours the same or different?  ???
