Can't connect wired
« on: September 18, 2016, 03:52:01 PM »

Up until a few days ago everything was working fine. As far as I know I haven't changed anything to my setup. I suddenly can't use wired computers to connect my dlink 320 anymore. Wireless devices like my mobile work just fine though. I can see the nas on my network overview on my wired computer but it says I might not have permission to connect.

my nas is set on static IP and is connected to my modem, the same one where all the pc's are connected to. I have no idea what could'v changed that caused this issue.

What operating system are you using on your computers?

Since your other devices (Android and/or iOS) still work, the wireless connection is just incidental and can be ignored, there does not appear to be anything wrong with your DNS-320 and its operation.

We have seen several instances of this when customers have brought in computers that have been 'updated' to win10 and the latest push of beta software to those computers started last Tuesday and the problems also started then.  If I was a suspicious person I would draw conclusions...

I am indeed running windows 10 but it has always worked fine for windows 10. There are 2 others computers (windows 7 & 10) that also have this issue and are also wired. I have a laptop with windows 7 which is connected wirelessly and the problem doesnt occur there. I am pretty sure that it's the difference between wireless and wired.

What is the Mfr and model of the main host router?
Any chance you an try installing a external Gb LAN network switch and connect the DNS and PCs to the switch on the back end of the main host router and test?

my bad, it was indeed windows 10 causing the problem. I figured it wasn't that because the 2 windows 10 versions aren't exactly the same version (im running the W10 technical preview and the other comp has the retail W10 home version). But I tested it on the 7 and it still works fine there. Is there any known work around around this new bug?

I fixed it by uninstalling the last update (17-9) and that fixed it for me, ty for your answers and your time. If you have any additional info on this problem I would be gratefull but if not, that's fine too. I already appreciate the tip about the windows update  ;D

What was the update KB number if you can get this info. Would be helpful. Might get details of this update or the list of KBs that were installed...

Glad this got it working.

Unfortunately we don't have a list of what goes into the 'updates', we just get the information that there is on starting on a certain date.

I know I sound hard on win10 but the problems that we are seeing from walk in customers just seem impossible.  While it improves the company bank balance it does take time from our normal work but the most annoying thing is that most of it should not happen - it's an operating system that is supposed to be an improvement on the last one

Thank you for this information. I see something referring to SMB vulnerability. Not sure if that was particular in this case. Seems like you got it working after you un-installed it.

Seen a lot of networking issues with Win10. I still enjoy Windows 7.  ;)

Enjoy.

the update reinstalled itself  :'(
I see that I made a mistake with the kb numbers, the correct update to rollback on is (KB3193494).

Ya I think in Windows 10 you don't have the ability any more to skip or hide particular updates like you do with prior versions of Windows.  >:(

Hello
i dont know if this post is still active but i have a similar problem. I got win10 up and running since 2015. A few days ago i reinstalled everything and then all problems started. At first i thought it was a nas failure and mailed it to my local authorised support. They updated the firmware and said everything is working fine. When i got it back i got the same following errors:
  • During nas setup wizard, i cant install addons. The error i get is that my wifi signal is poor. Weird because i am connected by wire.
  • I cant load the nas gui on my local ip when using a browser. The page freezes
  • mydlink web service cant connect to my nas because of slow connection or firewall, even if firewall is on disable
I get all the above errors on win 10 and win 7 pcs. My android loads the gui on its browser but that does not help.
I read all the above posts but i cant figure out what to do and my local authorised nas support is not that helpful. They said check your firewall!!
Any help would be fine.
Thank you in advance.
PS i am not an expert on computers so keep your english simple plz :)

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your DNS? Look at the sticker behind or under the device.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the DNSs web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
Is the DNS getting a Dynamic IP address from the main host router? I recommend using a Static IP address ON the DNS set to 192.168.#.32 or .20.
What browser are you using?
Try FF or IE11 Browsers
