Title: Camera will not turn on
Post by: the15car on March 10, 2017, 10:52:17 PM
Hello,

I have a DCS-2330L that worked at one point but will not turn on now.  I have it plugged in and have pressed the reset button for > 10 seconds.  Any other ideas?

Thank you.

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
What wireless modes are you using?

Check the power adapter to make sure there is power at the tip and voltage and amps are reading what is listed on the sticker.

Thanks for the reply.  The hardware version is A1.  The firmware on the label is 1.01, which may not be current of course, but I can't check the cameras webpage until it turns on. :-) The power supply is hardwired to the camera so I can't check voltage at the tip.  Good thought though.  I wish I could swap the power supply to test it.  This camera has worked before.

You mean this doesn't have a plug in for the power adapter? Just hard wired? You sure there isn't a plug in the back? Remove the back panel to reveal items back there.

Ah, thanks, will try that.  I had the bottom panel off but did not notice the top one.  I have another 2330L and will try the power supply from that.

It was indeed the power supply. Thanks for getting me to look 1" further up from where I was to notice it had plugs and screws there too.

Now to find a new power supply!

If the camera is still under warranty, D-Link will send you a new power supply for free.  I've had to go through that.

This one is tough to replace, unfortunately, because the 90-degree bend in the plug at the camera end is required for it to sit underneath the weatherproof back cover.  Before I remembered that my dead power supply was under warranty, I looked for a generic replacement.  Easy to find one that would power the camera, but I never did find one with a 90-degree plug so I could put the back cover back on.  My cameras are all outside so that was a must.  Fortunately, as I said, I remembered I still had warranty coverage and D-Link sent me a new OEM power supply.

I believe you can get PS from D-Link out of warranty as well. Might incur a fee though.  ;)

Thank you, will give that a try.  And good call on the 90 degree bend.

I just spoke with d-link support who was surprisingly quick and helpful.  Hopefully this info will help someone in the future.  Power supplies have a 90 day warranty (mine was 1.5 years old).  Parts can be ordered at https://parts.us.dlink.com and it was not very expensive - $10 for the power supply with free shipping.

Awesome. Thanks for posting this info. Will make a FAQ for it.

Enjoy.  ;)
