DAP-1555/AP-Mode/Bridge
« on: July 20, 2009, 08:41:23 AM »

I bought a DAP-1555 a while ago (still has Sept. 2007 firmware on it) to use with my wired network.

What I did was plug the 1555 into my wired gigabit network, set it to AP mode and use it for my wireless laptop. What I'd LIKE to do now is to hook my satellite receiver and Blu-ray player to the network from a location that doesn't have a wired jack. I have three questions:

1. I understand that I COULD buy another 1555, set both to Bridge Mode and then plug the additional devices into the second 1555. Problem is, will this prevent me from continuing to use one of the 1555s as an AP for my wireless laptop? Will I need to actually plug the laptop into a 1555 to hook to the network?

2. Is it worthwhile updating the 1555 to the latest firmware?

3. Since my purchase I see a 1522 has come out. Is it possible to use a 1522 in bridging mode with the 1555? If so, is it preferable? Would this give me the "dual" bridge/AP mode I'd like?

Thanks for any info.

I also would like to know if the 1522 can work with the 1555 and connect with 300Mb connection using mediabridge.  I already have the 1522 and the signal strength between the two floors in my house is too week for HD.  Thanks in advance for any help.
