Motion Detection with day/night mode switching
« on: February 28, 2016, 02:28:34 PM »

Hello all. The last few weeks my DCS-2330l has been giving me motion detection notifications every morning and every evening when it switches back and forth from day to night and night to day. Any suggestions on how to keep it from causing it's own alerts?  I can't seem to find the answer after adjusting sensitivity settings. Any ideas? Other than this the camera works and detects well with no false alerts. Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

Hi!
I have the exact same problem with my 2330l. I get an alert every eving and every morning when the camera switches between day- and nitemode.

I have seen in earlier posts that this is nothing new. I fact itīs been going on for years now.  To D-Link; Is there really no solution to this?

Thanks

I would imagine that you won't get these alerts if you use PIR motion detection rather than the image-based detection.

For the latter, I'm not sure what D-lInk could do.  The easy answer is not to send an alert if the camera "detects" an event at the same time as the IR filter dis/engages.  But what if there really were a motion event at that exact time?  You wouldn't want the camera to ignore it.

  • What Hardware version is your DCS? Look at the sticker behind or under the camera.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the DCSs web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

Are there any sensitivity settings on the camera that can be adjusted by chance?

Yes there are.
Iīve tried everything...
In the clip that is recorded when going from dusk to dawn or vice versa I can see the day- and nitemode changing. I can also hear a distinct click when the camera switches modes.

Thats normal to hear the click. Nothing can be done with that.

Try setting the sensitivity to 20 or 30%?

You might phone contact D-Link support and ask them about this. Refer to this forum thread. Let us know what they say. Might ask for level 2 or higher support.

So I contacted D-Link. See below.
In other words it wonīt work the way I supposed it would.

"The camera is used as the standard Video Motion Detection and then reacts to changes in the image. Then the camera switches to day / night mode, it will be very big change in the image and therefore it is difficult to get away from this.
For example, primarily want to monitor at night so you can lock it at night mode.
But if the goal the camera will capture the not so far away as you can instead test the infrared sensor in the camera.
Enable this via the camera's advanced settings.
Go to Setup and Motion Detection. Select where PIR.
Then you need during Setup, Event Setup and Event switch from Video Motion of Passive Infrared.
Then it reacts instead of heat sources and should not react when the camera switches from day to night mode."

I also have an indoor camera, DCS-2132L, version A, FW 1.0.7, which, with the same settings does work the way it should....strange...

Possible they may have changed the behavior between these models. I don't know if it would be standard or not.  :-\
