Router Piggyback
« on: November 14, 2012, 09:23:54 AM »

Here's what I have: A Wireless DSL Modem provided by my Internet provider, a DIR-601 Dlink Router and a wired Xbox.

My modem is downstairs and I don't want to purchase 100ft of cable to connect to the Xbox on the main level. I'm unable to wire through the levels because I'm renting.

I have been scouring the net, trying to figure out how to use my Dlink to piggyback the Internet connection from the modem so I can wire my Xbox to it. I've followed the guides to the best of my ability but I'm missing something, because whenever I enter the info for the modem into the Dlink, I lose wireless connectivity.

Ultimately, I am not looking for the Dlink to be wireless because I only need the LAN ports on it.

What am I missing?

;) or get you a DAP model product that allows for wireless bridging.

Good luck.
