Unable to log on to DAP-1522 after network changes
« on: September 30, 2011, 12:02:40 PM »

Hi - I hope someone can help me with this. I recently had a networking guy set up a VPN for me, but for it to work properly he had to change all my IP addresses to 192.168.10.xx from 192.168.0.xx. My DAP-1522 (in bridge mode) continued to work but I am unable to log on to it, I think because it's address is 192.168.0.0.

I have run into some other issues which makes me think I may need to upgrade the DAP-1522 firmware and/or assign it an address beginning with 192.168.10.xx, however I can't log on to the bridge. (Nor do I know how to change or possible reassign the DAP-1522's address through my router, a DIR-615).

There may be a simple answer but unfortunately I am pushing the limits of my tech know how. Any suggestions appreciated. Thank you.

Might be that your tech guy didn't also change the addressing on the DAP unit as well. You can change the IP address to the same pool addressing as the .10.xx. What you'll need to do is take ur PC and input a manual ip address into the network properties and use the 192.168.0.any number other than what the DAP is set for. Subnet should be the same. You don't need a gateway or DNS. Once you do this on the PC, connect the LAN cable directly between the PC and DAP.

You should be able to open the browser to the DAP and get it's web page log in. Go in and change the networking from 192.168.0.x to 192.168.10.x. Give a number to the last digit and nothing that starts with 0 or 1. I would set for something like 50 or a number hight.

If this doesn't work. I would do a factory reset on the DAP and see if the DAP will auto negotiate a new IP address from your host router which it should get automatically. I think it should pick up the 10.x adressing. You can try this first if you want too.

Let us know.

I didn't have the time to do all this until this weekend. Just wanted to let you know that everything worked out fine. I was able to upgrade the firmware and change the DAP IP address and now it seems to be working fine and I can log into the device. Thanks again.
