DIR-610 slowing Download Speed
« on: July 05, 2015, 12:10:21 PM »

I'm using Wired Connection...

My router is a D-Link DIR-610 which is a Latin America router since i'm overseas. Up until yesterday my download speeds were fine but today i noticed that my downloads have been very slow. this happens with both a laptop and a desktop so clearly PC is not the issue.

I plug the PC directly to the modem and i get the maximum download speed by my ISP yet with the router i only get like 3% of my maximum speed the very next second that i try to download the same exact file with the router.

I know no one is on the network besides me because i am the only one with the password and i just changed the SSID again and have always had my wiresless signal as hidden to make sure no one gets in since they can't even see it.

i also just did a couple of factory resets and nothing has changed since i get the same speed with both the old settings and a factory reset.

like i said if i have my PC connected directly to the modem i get maximum speed. i also noticed that earlier my torrent speed was either ax maximum or 1/4 my maximum speed yet the http downloads where still so slow. it's almost like my router prefers torrents to http downloads. Is that even possible..... :(

i even reinstalled windows (had to since i had some malware hidden that was messing up some things).

I tried download the following files and they were all slow: AMD Catalyst Driver, Avast, 7Zip, EaseUS partition. these were just to name a few. They would start off at either a high or medium speed then quickly drop to around 13 KB/s. downloading a 100 MB test file from speedtest netted me a 100 KB/s speed which is still 25% of my maximum download speed. :(

there is just no way so many different sites can be having download speed issues so this is clearly my router acting up.

One thing that doesn't change is the Speed Test results which always shows me getting 4Mbps yet the download speeds are clearly not anywhere in that ballpark unless it's plugged directly from the PC to the Modem.

what is going on?
what could it be?

i don't know what else to do.
