Mydlink lite app, fw update failed, may have bricked my 933L...
« on: September 09, 2015, 07:53:42 PM »

Hi Everyone, wondering if anyone else has this issue, and if there's anything I can do to fix it?

I went to access my camera on my android Samsung Galaxy S4...  Same as I've done for years.  It gave me a firmware update message, again not a new experience.  I have 5 cameras on my network, a combo of 931, 932, and 933 so I've seen this before and thought very little about it...  None have ever failed to update through the app.  This time however, the 933 failed to update, and now displays a red light indefinitely.  It was wired to my router with cat 5e, with a 10/100 switch in between...

Is my Camera dead?  An if so, what can I expect DLink do about the issue?

Thx, Kelly

Can you do a factory reset ON the camera while it's LAN wire connected to the main host router and see if it will return? You'll have to walk thru the set up process again with the software. Check the main host routers DHCP client table to see if it gets a IP address there.

I had that upgrade on me fail to!

I did this myself so I thought I would share what i did to fix it after 3 long hours. I tried all the usual holding the power button while turning it on etc which did not work, holing it down for 8 seconds or so.

Scanned the network it did not get a dhcp address, anyways these cameras default ip is 192.168.0.20 after finding out on google. Set pc to a static ip of 192.168.0.100, then logged into modem and uploaded the *.bin camera rebooted 2 mins later to its previous configuration.

What a relief! Have a beer on me.

Link>Welcome!

  • What region are you located?

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
Is the DCS getting a Dynamic IP address from the main host router? I recommend using a Static IP address ON the DCS set to 192.168.#.93 always.

I just updated my 933L successfully via wireless. Wireless updates can be done however wireless stability is key. If you are sure the wireless signal between the camera and main host router is stable, then using mydlink.com from a wired PC should work to upgrade the camera. It's what I use. I asked D-link about this and wireless upgrades should work. Good wireless signal and stability is key. Any doubt in wireless stability, I recommend getting the camera connected to a LAN wire cable before upgrading.

This for the default IP information and hope it will help others should it be needed.
