Wondering
« on: November 06, 2009, 08:05:43 AM »

??? Hello to all.  I like to say my dlink seems ok. I dont use the wireless. Anyway i have everthing hardwired.  I think all wireless blows. i have a quick question. i have a dlink 4500 router and i also run Mcafee the newest version firewall running xp windows. i was looking at my firewall events from Mcafee and i see a few ssdp coming from my router. I don't have UpNp on. That is off. I was wondering why this is. And why is my firewall blocking it, saying it's some kind of unsolicited connection from port 1900 udp. some kind of remote installation services ect etc Security risk... wtf ??? thank god i have a firewall. It would take me a bit to type all the information my firewall gave me. I need some info on this please. oh and i have an xbox 360 running on port 2. All i did for that is plug the darn thing in. It works great. Speed of 30+Down for me 9 up :)  And I'm running the new DOCSIS 3.0 Modem from Comcast.

Just curious, is your routers FW enabled? Just my opinion here but having both FWs going seems a bit redundant. I use the routers FW and don't use any SW based. I have it on media for emergencies. The routers FW seems to handle everything well. I put my 360 out on the DMZ. All others are FWd.
