i want wds back on the dir655 because theni can bridge the dir 855 with the dir 655.

You can try the alternative way to enable 'old and abandoned" features....Don't know if WDS works though, but setting the WAN port to the abandoned bridge function does. So give it a try....

WDS is a very sensitive feature. I've almost never seen rock solid implementations on routers. So I can imagine they removed it.  8)
