Is it necessary to format the HDD after factory reset?
« on: November 08, 2013, 12:32:32 AM »

Hi

I have recently bought a DNS-320 N.A.S. I put a 3 TB Toshiba H.D.D into it and formatted it and copied some valuable data on it. To some reasons I reseted the device to factory setting using the key on the rear of it. now the device doesn't recognize my H.D.D. I tried putting H.D.D on an external box but the formatting system was unknown to Windows 7. Is there any way to recover my data?

Urgent help is highly appreciated.

you can try mounting the hdd in linux (eg. ubuntu) or use this driver, to make windows read ext drives. if this donīt work the data is not accessable anymore.
