FTP access via browser, no security?
« on: July 15, 2019, 02:35:10 AM »

Hi all,
I do not use the FTP server that much, but had a need to supply a large file to a friend.
I setup username and password, then went to test it via a browser and found I can get to the folder without having to use username or pw?

If I try via FTP or Windows explorer, I have to enter username and pw, but not for a browser. Chrome does not allow this access, but Firefox, Pale Moon, IE and Edge all do.?
It is not because I am inside the network either as the friend was able to download the files without any login.?

Is there anyway to make a browser behave as a FTP client or Windows Explorer?

In fact just looking at a sticky re firmware, I found I can do the same at ftp://ftp2.dlink.com/ ?

TIA
