Title: FORUM USER REQUESTS and BUGS
Post by: FurryNutz on May 30, 2014, 07:36:25 AM
This thread is in regards to what users of the DIR-880L would like to request DLink to review and consider adding features to the routers FW and operation. Also this thread includes any reports of bugs that arere-producible, that should be reviewed by DLink seen by us users. Please be detailed, concise and tactful when posting the requests and bug details.

Do not arbitrarily post defects or bugs here. Before reporting concerns about defects or bugs, please ensure that troubleshooting of the problem has been thoroughly completed before posting a problem about defects. Not all issues are a defect or bug related. Let other users help you troubleshoot the problem first before posting here.  Non-related posts will be removed and moved to the correct forum.

Demanding anything will not get us anything. There are no guarantees.

Please keep other subjects, topics and questions to other threads and posts. This thread is just a central list of Features and Bugs for review by DLink.

If you like, you can PM me your list and details and I will had them to a list I've started here.  ;)

FEATURE REQUESTS:
Example: 1. Add router web page timeout options. (Would help to disable this when working with users in making operations in a slow manor or for those who like to keep the routers page open there browsers for a long period of time.)

DEFECTS:
Example: 1. At 24 MAC entries it said "You cannot add more rules because the table is full. " Need to find out if this is a defect if other rules are not set up in the pool or if there is an actual limitation on setting up the amount of MAC entries you can have.

Found a small bug in the UI.

Go to Features -> Port Forwarding -> Virtual Server -> Add Rule -> Application Name dropdown list -> REMOTE DESKTOP -> Apply

This fails with "Text field contains illegal characters". There should not be illegal characters in the dropdown list. Tested with IE11 and Firefox.

Thanks for posting feedback on this router.

We presume that since D-Link is using a new UI and process that these may not be used in the current system, as the new UI uses a slider bar to create the reservation. FYI, there is a bug on this and has been reported to D-Link regarding using the slider bar to reserve IPs.

The timeout for the UI has been and I presume will alway be set up to time out since I've been told this has to do with security with the router.

Having a set of web pages for advanced users may not be possible as these routers have a certain limit on usable memory and how the UI is developed for everyones use and using this newer simplistic UI. I'm not sure if any advanced pages can be added.

However we do hope that D-Link will review and add what they can.

Thanks for posing and sharing. We hope the router is working well for you.

DEFECTS:

1. When first setting up the router if the Primary and Secondary DNS servers are changed at the beginning then access to the internet is lost.  If the DNS servers are set last then access to the internet is not lost.

2. Even after changing the DHCP IP range down to 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.51 the router still gives out octets in the 100's.

Are you clearning the DNS caches from all devices when you change DNS during this phase?

2. Even after changing the DHCP IP range down to 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.51 the router still gives out octets in the 100's.
Is the router power cycle using the new IP address range and are the devices power cycled as well after the router to clear out the old IP address? Can you post a picture of the router settings for the new DHCP pool and a picture of the devices that have been given a IP address out side of the new range...

Thanks for the feedback. I have asked about this. Haven't heard anything. I believe you can check connection rates with the app called InSSIDer as a external program to check rates.

We were unable to add this device to your mydlink account. Please close and run the setup wizard again to enable mydlink service for your device. (Error code: BINDERR006A) Happens after a factory reset and user skips the initial set up wizard and goes to manually set up mydlink.com with a active user account. FW v1.02 B01.

Still seeing bad DHCP IP reservation behavior v1.02 from the Canada site. Can't seem to set a custom IP address smoothly. Won't set correctly if the IP addresses is changed from the auto detected IP address to something different. D-Link is aware of this problem at this time. Should be fixed in next FW release.

  • Please include a way to revisit all reserved IP-Addresses even if the devices with reserved addresses are not connected! Otherwise an easy maintenance of reserved IP-addresses is very cumbersome!
  • Please include a way to explicitly block unwanted devices, e.g. by only allowing devices with a reserved IP-address. Might be easily realized by allowing an empty range of IP-addresses for the DHCP server.
Thanks!

1) Return of Inbound filters (DLINK support has been unable to replicate this feature using new IPv4 firewall rules) This was a standout feature above most other routers.
2) Ability to view system logs within web interface
3) Ability to set log levels (current logs sent to syslog servers are not usable)
4) MAC based restriction/allow missing (critical piece for use with more secure home or small business setup)
5) Remote MGMT of router only has enable or disable unable to restrict to certain INBOUND FILTERS

It would seem some critical functionality has been lost in order to produce a more "friendly" GUI and MGMT. A better balance needs to be struct here.

Thanks for your feedback and information.

Yes this router and UI seems to be designed for the ease of use and configuration. Not sure if any features will be added or not. I'll forward this to D-Link for review.

Thank you.

Please be patient while D-Link fixes this issue.

Thank you.

Possibly a bug. I can't seem to find the place in the UI where I can delete reserved IP address from the device I no longer have. Now when I attempt to assign new device to that IP address I get duplicate error. Is there any other way besides resetting the router?

He called me back, said they could reproduce it and will fix it in the firmware. Not sure how long it takes, but at least it's good news.

Feature Request:

There is a way the following features would be restored.
1. Ability to set WiFi transmission rate setting (1mbps, 2, 54, 130 300...)
2. Able to select WPA cipher mode (TKIP/AES)  setting.  I believe the WPA2/AES would achieve the highest transmission rate setting
3. WMM enable setting added
4. Display device info screen for all network related connection
5. Show log details viewable within its WebGUI (syslog requires external storage and viewing)
6. Show connected gadgets/terminals' wireless mode connection mode/rate/signal
7. Screen for internet session screen, other than the statistics graph screen
8. More detailed QOS engine rules to further control multimedia connection.

Thank you for posting and the feed back. I recommend contacting your regional D-Link support office to inquire with in about these features. There maybe some that are not compatible or the design of the features are more automated rather then having manual selections. I presume maybe some could be added. Each region handles there own development so they will need to review this and see what can be done. Please let us know if you find out anything.

Just called support and they appreciated the feedback I've suggested.  However, as you said, other than H/W limitations (chipset, memory, etc.), their technical team needs to assess/weigh all these aspects and incorporate some features little by little without compromising the quality and performance of the unit.  But they assured that they'll use these feedback to improve the product and UX/UI.  I'm hoping to get a positive response on the needed features of network (settings/monitoring of DHCP, WiFI, etc.) attributes which were present in the old routers.

Not sure if this would be added as the initial problem may have stemed from this blocking behavior. You could try loading v1.04 WW and see if anything changes.
If not, I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.

I went to FW: 1.04WW and the fault with Parental Controls "see above" is still there, it states at the top of the page.....

"Click on the "Pencil" icon to manage devices access or change device name.
You can block a device from accessing your network completely."

...which to me means what the older fw did was correct and the newer fw's now have a bug

I would contact your regional D-Link support office and ask them what the expected behavior is not with the new FW. If it's changed then it may not be a bug, if they deem it's a bug then I presume it would be fixed and in a follow on release.

Let us know how it goes...

Hello,

I am using hardware version A1.
Firmware version 1.04WW is currently loaded.
I am located in the U.S.

I haven't tested this behavior in router mode yet.

I am using a D-Link DIR-655 as my main router and its client list shows the names of devices as reported by the devices.  I don't see an option to edit connected device names in the old style firmware but these names are more helpful than "Unknown".  Should the names reported by the devices be showing up in the connected device list of DIR-880L rather than "Unknown" for almost all devices?

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.
  • Link>What Firmware (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=47512.0) version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.

Well one recent user reported that entering host names was working on his router.

If the 655 is the main host router, you can edit host names there as well...When you set up a resevation in the Add section, there is a host name box, you can edit the host name there before selecting Save. I believe this is a feature on Rev B routers. I'd have to check my Rev A to see if its supported there as well...

You can edit the host names on the 880L as well when saving reservations.

Also be sure to set a host name on the device. There are various places most devices that you can edit the host name that can be detected by the router.

Bugs: v1.05WW
1. Time is an hour off regardless of configurations used.
2. QoS won't accept any input values or priority settings after a period of time. Can make configuration changes after doing a factory reset, use the set up wizard, then go directly to QOS and set up ISP values.
3. Can't set any device reservations beyond 18.
4. Odd QoS missing display behavior seen in IE11, FF and Chrome on WIndows 10. Opera displays correctly and so does Safari in OSX 10.10.5.
5. Possible instability of wireless after router has been online for 20-30 days on v1.04.

Personally, I'd love a way to schedule a reboot. I've only had my 880L (HW A1, FW 1.05WW ) since Oct 4th and I've had to reboot 3 times to regain a connection. Being able to schedule this for 3AM or something would be ideal.

Routers don't need to be rebooted unless for troubleshooting or FW updates. If your having reboot to clear a problem, then the problem needs to be identified and if it's a FW issue, D-Link needs to review it and fix it.

I've never had to reboot this model router while operating in normal mode.

Thanks for the information !

While I still need to test it per Furry's suggestion, I think I'll defer implementing it for ongoing use until this thread's report is confirmed as "going away".

Cheers

DIR-880L HW:A1 FW:1.05WW

I'd like an option to not allow wireless connections access to the router's login.  Maybe an IPV4 rule could be created with this effect but out of the box it should be protected.

The MTU when set to manual 1500 reverts back to Auto.  It needs to be set and stay at that value.

It would be nice to have a view that showed the listing of the current connections and their priority so the QOS changes could be verified.

When specifying Primary and Secondary DNS and DNS Relay is disabled, the router should not pass along the ISPs DNS IPs as the 3rd and 4th DNS servers.

On the wireless config page the password should not be shown by default (would be nice to have an option to show though if needed).

When DNS Relay is disabled the Guest network clients are still given the router as the DNS server rather than the Primary and Secondary DNS specified or the ISPs DNS servers.  When DNS Relay is disabled the router needs to be completely out of the DNS business.

QOS settings: Not sure what is up with Uplink and Downlink speed settings as others have posted in this thread.

I can access the routers web page with my iPhone 6P. Would need more details on what your referring too and what wireless devices you ahve that are trying to connect to the routers web page. There is a mobile browser settings that displays initially, then there is a option to view full desktop version once your logged in.

The MTU when set to manual 1500 reverts back to Auto.  It needs to be set and stay at that value.
Is Auto causing a problem. If Auto and your ISP is cable then defaul detection may set to Auto and Auto defaults to 1500 MTU.

I'll pass this on to D-Link for review.

Can you provide a screen capture of this?

There is a known issue with QoS and it's configuration. I found that if I do a factory reset, walk thru the set up wizard, go directly into QoS and set up ISP speed values, save settings, the router should reboot here and the settings should persist. There seems to be a bug in QoS after a time period, the configuration of QoS becomes broke. I've made D-Link aware of this and we hope the next FW update will have it fixed.

Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates then set up from scratch?
No but I'll redo it accordingly.

From a security standpoint by default wireless connections should not be allowed access to the router to possibly login.  Wired connections only.  This means out of the box an attacker must gain physical access to the premises where the router is situated.

We turn off as many auto detect type settings as possible so that if the WAN does drop the unit can quickly re-establish and possibly keep from dropping Voip calls.

Maybe possible however most home class routers including other non-D-Link Mfr support wireless device access to the routers UI. It's been like this for a while now. Home class routers and Mfr may want users to have the ability to manage the router from remote locations using mobile devices. I haven't seen any reports of un-authorized access by users. If there is, it's been from someone getting the log in info from owner or someone factory reset the router and of course can gain access using default log in info.

Is this router being used at a home or business? I've never had any issues with Auto MTU. For this model other newer models with this similar UI, I presume there reason for it is to keep things simplified and the use of AUTO helps in this regard and maybe there intent behind it's function. I presume if your not seeing any issues with this other than in troubleshooting, then you should be ok. I've passes this on to D-Link for review. Can't promise anything.

Please be patient.

Just upgraded my router to 1.05.
And got issues with the speed.
New feature is the speed setting and its set to 8mbit Dl and 2mbit Ul, and it can’t be changed.
Is there a way to change this setting without doing a factory reset?
Also noticed that the qos settings is not changeable.
Now I have downgraded to 1.04 and the speed is ok
But the qos settings can’t be saved.
What I can see qos error was introduced when I upgraded from 1.02 to 1.03.

Is there a way to access this router in an advance mode?
So I can see all the settings I have made like in older roouters ex dir655?

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations

There is a known bug in v1.05 where the QoS becomes un-configurable. I found that doing a factory reset, walk thru the set up wizard, the go immediately into the QoS section, set the ISP speeds UP and down, then select Save, will allow the configuration to be saved then. D-Link is working on it and I hope will be forth coming with a fix in the next FW update. I recommend using prior FW if you can't get v1.05 to work well for you.

There is no advanced menus.

I logged a case to D-link, but got no help there. They just told me to do upgrade to 1.05 and do a factory reset and reconfigure the router.

My router is wired and the wireless is disabled.
The factory reset was performed after I tried to upgrade to 1.05, and then I took my config file and applied it to the router. But got the same issue.
I have tried to do a factory reset both before and after upgrade. But as soon as I apply the config file I get the problem. If I try to configure Qos wit out applying my config file qos works.
My ISP is IP4U and I have fiber connection.

At this point I am using 1.04
So at this point it looks like I have to do a factory reset when I do the upgrade to 1.05 and reconfigure all again manually without the config file.
The only problem is that I can’t do all the settings since there is devices that are not connected all the time. Where I have set rules, and those cant been seen until those devices are online.
For an example connected client that are wifi connected where I have reserved the ip.
The same applies for the qos engine. So if there was a tool to read out the config file it would be nice.
Else I have to take some stuff from time to time.

Any status on this?  ???

6. IPv6 is getting a IPv6 address from ISP, however IPv6 supporting devices is not getting IPv6 thru the router:

Title: Under access point mode, 880L shows as not connected
Post by: jgatl on January 25, 2016, 04:49:35 AM
HW: A1
FW: 1.05WW

Bug
When setting up an 880L as a wireless access point, 880L states internet connection needs repair. Wireless devices connected to the 880L are correctly getting an IP address and can connect to the Internet.  The router has to be set as DHCP mode in order to modify the wireless network names, but DHCP is turned off.  Recommend if DHCP mode is set for the router, and DHCP is turned off (under settings > network), then supply the DHCP address and subnet provided in the settings > network configuration page. I am not sure how the internet connection error is validated, but this should somehow check under this mode if dlink.com is available.

Moderator stated this is functioning as designed, but the router should show that the internet connection is passing through. The Not AvaIlable field should be populated:
IP address: address of the 880L
Subnet mask:  address of the 880L
Gateway:  show router address doing passthrough
DNS:  show router address doing passthrough
DNS2: either show router address or leave as not available

Another option would be to add a Wireless Access Point option to the settings > internet Device Type drop down.  This would disable DHCP but allow the end user to setup wireless network names.  Instructions would need to tell the user to reserve the mac address on the actual DHCP router so that you could administer the router (have found using the dlinkrouter.local doesn't consistently work).

Thanks for reviewing.

Thank you for the feed back.

As it stands this issue is not a bug and is by design. Since this model does not support "actual AP Mode", and the work around is to use LAN to LAN AP mode configuration, the UI will report the disconnection since the WAN port is not used. This does not effect the operation and performance of the router and users should not be concerned with it. This is seen on other model routers that don't actually support AP mode. This modem supports wireless bridge mode and in this case the UI will change and you will not see this page in wireless bridge mode.
The DIR-890L supports actual AP mode.

Thank you.

BUGS: v1.07 B08
1. Smart Connect is not working right. When enabled, SSID scan on various devices displays two SSID names instead of one SSID name. Did not see this behavior on prior FW versions. http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=64587.msg266950#msg266950 (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=64587.msg266950#msg266950)
Update: I factory reset and manually re-loaded the official WW B08 version and seems that only 1 SSID name is seen if SC is enabled. However found another issue outlined in bug #6 in this list.

2. I have 32 connected clients, but only 27 cards ever show up.   The clients have IPs and are working fine, the problem is the cards.
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=64587.msg267115#msg267115 (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=64587.msg267115#msg267115)

3. When you are viewing the connected client cards, after the first refresh flicker the IPv6 addresses get cleared out.   The clients are working fine on IPv6 and when you initially load the view you see the IPv6 addresses on the cards. Then it flickers away never to return.
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=64587.msg267115#msg267115 (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=64587.msg267115#msg267115)

4. Possible WiFi/SleepWake issue seen on OSX 10.11.x and Mac Book Pro:
"I've been having random Wi-Fi disconnects on my MacBook Pro mid-2010 running OSX El-Capitan 10.11.4 after waking up the computer from sleep. The Wi-Fi bars keep going up and down and sometimes the laptop cannot receive an IP address from my router (D-link DIR-880l running FW 1.06). When it does receive an IP, it takes a good minute. Sometimes I need to turn the WI-FI on/off a couple of times before it works. Sometimes it just doesn't work and I have no choice but to power cycle the router.

I keep constantly resetting the router to help with this issue. The laptop will work fine for a few days, but the issue comes back (randomly, I cannot detect a pattern).

I have other wireless devices (iPad Mini 4, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6s, BlackBerry Q10) and no one them give me Wi-Fi issues (with SC on or off). My wired devices all work perfectly.

I wanted to point out that I have also shortened the MacBook host name (or computer name) from MACBOOK-PRO to Mac as I read somewhere online that in the past, D-link routers did have issues with host names that were longer than a certain number of characters or if host names had special characters such as spaces. Unfortunately, this workaround did not resolve my issue.

Also, I have noticed with Smart Connect ON, sometimes my other wireless devices do take a good 30 seconds before connecting to WIFI. This does not happen often, around once every week or two and mostly with my iPhone 5s. For example, my iPhone 5s will be working fine for several days and then suddenly, it's on LTE. When looking at the WIFI settings of my iPhone, you can clearly see that it's connected to my SSID, however, within the details option, there is no IP address. This usually corrects itself under a minute and then it's fine for week or two. All of this leads me to believe that Smart Connect is not yet fully optimized and does take some time (sometimes) to find the best possible band for your wireless devices.
I have done the SMC reset on the MacBook and it did not help. I will try the PRAM later on to see.

It's really hard to diagnose this issue since it's so random. Every step I take, usually fixes the issue but it comes back within a few days. So you have to be really patient. For example, if I turn SC on, the router takes 10 seconds to save the new settings and the MacBook start working fine. However, the problems comes back a few days later. If I have a power outage at my house, it throws a monkey wrench in my testing plans since it power cycles the router. :-)

I will wait before updating to 1.07 Beta (this will be my last resort). Hopefully by them, 1.07 will be official and will have some release notes."
I tested OSX 10.11.4 on a 2012 Mac Mini and could not reproduce. iPhone 6P and 2007 Mac Book Pro OSX 10.10.5 work ok. Possible issue with newer Mac Book Pro and this router or current version of FW. It should be noted that I'm seeing bad behavior with Smart connect on v1.07 beta FW.  The user didn't test v1.07 beta before moving to a different Mfr router and has left the forum so problem could not be fully qualified or resolved.

5. High ping and latency on wireless devices.

6. Guest Zone is active if SC is enabled and if you disable SC and go to Guest Zone, the 5Ghz guest radio is running. If you disable it and save settings, guest zone disappears however re-enabling SC causes the 5Ghz guest zone radio to be re-enabled. http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=64891.msg269518#msg269518 (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=64891.msg269518#msg269518)

Hello,
I have this router for about 1 month now.
I wish there was a page with the list of all reserved IPs, from where you could adjust parental controls, for example.
Something like on the dir615, my previous router.

With the last FW, the device has to appear in the Connected Clients page in order to be able to change its settings.

This router uses the new generation UI and connected clients will show up in the connected clients list.

Yes I know.

It's simply a suggestion of improvement.
It would be nice to be able to modify a client's options even if it is not connected.
Example : my kid's tablet is not always connected to the wifi. I have assigned a static IP to the tablet. I would like to be able to modify the Parental Control option without the tablet having to be connected to the wifi. Because if it is not connected, it won't show up in the Connected Clients page, therefore I won't be able to modify its settings. On the dir-615 I could do that.

Ya, we have asked for this and it was implemented on the 890L. I'm hoping it will be for the 880L as well.

Thanks for the feed back.

Hi,
When a device is in Parental Control, it cannot access the wifi. Would that be possible to disable only the Internet access, and not the wifi. I have a NAS at home, and I would like to be able to access my videos for example, even if I have parental control enabled.

Perhaps an ignorant question, as this is the first router I've had that had any NAS or pseudo-NAS features, but is there a way configure the settings for USB devices, esp. an external HD and 128GB thumbdrive, so keep awake files are not written to them (to prevent sleeping I imagine). A toggle in the device's section (eg "allow drive to sleep") would be great, or am I overlooking that ability?
The HD being allowed to hibernate would actually be a good feature imo, and writing these keep awake files to a thumbdrive just seems a waste (not to mention shortening its life, as in the connection is actually warm from the writes if kept plugged in overnight with no access on my part at all.)
If the router supports DLNA for those devices, this seems a small thing to add.
Thanks.

Welcome! (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=48135.0)

The USB feature is mainly meant for Read and streaming features to devices and some accessibility. Depending on the USB drive Mfr and it's design, some drives may already have this however some routers may not allow for sleeping modes. Not sure if this router will get that feature or not. Your best option would be to get into full fleged NAS unit or maybe connect your USB drive to the network via a USB to LAN adapter.

Exact.
I would love to have more customization possibilities.

Mine only disables Internet access, I have an Emby server and all clients can access it even with Always Off turned on in Parental controls

As long as they still have their ip address it continues to work on the local Intranet, if they lose their ip address and then I manually add it back to each machine it works again....I have dhcp enabled

I would would rather it locked them out altogether because the parental controls in Emby fail to kick them out at the scheduled times so I have to manually disable each user in Emby

Couple of questions (well, #2 seems to be a bug)

1. Do we need to update to this version if we already grabbed 1.08 WW off the Russian site? - i.e. is there any difference?
2. I just went to use the Quick VPN. After entering settings (L2TP over IPsec, user, pass, psk) and click save. You are returned to the router login. Going back to the VPN the settings are not saved and the VPN doesn't work.

Yes there is a difference. I don't think the version from the Russia site has any of the changes in the most current one.

If you upgrade to B04, do a factory reset before and after manually loading the FW file. Use IE or FF for this. Clear the browser cache before and after sending the file, then after the last factory reset, walk the set up wizard, then go in and configure the router and configure the Quick VPN feature and let us know if you can get the router to save the settings. Seen this before when QoS was configured and didn't save the setting.  ::)

Keep us posted.

New Feature:
Graphics on tiles to identify LAN wired and wireless connected clients. And wireless signal level gauges.

Maybe a bug.

DIR-880L / A2 / 1.07WW

The router will allow https traffic from the Internet to any device in the LAN if no virtual rule exist for port 443.

I have 2 devices that can be accessed through https (443). If any of them are connected, the router will randomly choose one.

This is concerning since the router should block any non-authorized access.

I created a rule on 443 to deny access using the calendar to fix the issue but I think this is a serious security issue.

Also, this router is not working well with WOL since we cannot broadcast a rule on 192.168.0.255.

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations

Do you have uPnP enabled? Do you have any of the remote router UI access features enabled?

Can you test with v1.08 and see?

This model router may not support loopback for WoL features.

Maybe a bug.

Ok... it is not a bug.  By default Upnp is enabled on this router and this is a security risk.

Maybe it should be disabled by default as recommend.

That's a 5 year old article, even though it does have some good info, for time it was written, uPnP implementations was fixed. It was a core uPnP driver issue that all Mfrs including DD-WRT and OpenWRT was using at the time. The issue was fixed I believe. Been a while.  ???

I've asked to see if what your noticing with uPnP on the 880L is a problem or not.
D-Links says current uPnP works as designed. Not a bug.

DIR-880L DHCP failure in Bridge mode:
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=74056.0 (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=74056.0)

Reproducible with recent v1.20 FW.
Reverting back to v1.08B04 does not reproduce this problem.

I realize it maybe too late to ask for this however working with the 880L in bridge mode, I find it very hard to check to see what frequency I'm actually connecting too before I select something from the list. Even though I'm connecting to a tri-band supporting router with Smart Connect enabled, kind of hard to see which frequency I'm trying to work with until after I select something then look at the 880L top LED indicator to see what it connected too. Then again, if there are more than one wifi source with same SSID like i happen to have this evening, makes it hard to tell which wifi source I'm connected too, either router A or wifi extender B.

The DIR-868L old wifi scanner UI gave, channel, signal db, frequency along with SSID names.
The additional information helps to better select a SSID to connect too. I would like to see D-Link add this back to there new UI for, if not current routes that support wireless bridge mode, new and up coming future routers. Would need to keep in mind that if a router supports wireless bridge mode, the scan results would and can return results from tri-band supporting routers that seems to show more than just the one same name SSID. So having some additional information like Frequency and DB status would be help in determining which wireless SSID name to pick from when selecting something to use with a D-Link router that supports wireless bridge mode. It has been a handy feature and I have used it on various occasions. However the new UI makes it harder to use as often as I would like.

Kind of hard to tell which frequency a DIR-880L is connected to in wireless bridge mode with the 890L:
This shows being wired for some reason. Though I chose and SSID which I couldn't tell on the 880L which frequency to select first before saving. The only indication is the top LED on the DIR-880L for 5Ghz was lit up.  :-\
