Grrr. Camera cannot handle WPA2/WPA Mixed Mode security.  Set it to plain and simple WPA2 and it works (as above). Grrr.

This is an old thread, but maybe folks are still coming here to try to find answers.   I also had a LOT of trouble trying to get my 932L to communicate with my router (Cisco E3500) wirelessly.  It would do just fine as long as the Cat5 cable was connected, but refused to work once the cable was unplugged.
Security on the camera was set to WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK.    Security on my router was set to  WPA2/WPA Mixed Mode.   Changing my router security to   WPA2 Personal  was all it took to fix the wifi problem.  Hopefully this information will help someone out there.  I was on the verge of returning my 932l to BestBuy, and now I'm glad I didn't.

SequiMike, your suggestion saved my day...I was about to return it..

I have been fighting this same problem for weeks without luck, but I finally stumbled across a solution which may be of value to someone. I have an older 2wire wireless modem which uses WEP for security. The password for the modem is a 10 digit number, but the camera would only accept 13 digits for 128 encryption, and 5 digits for 64. I played with combinations since I had run out of ideas. I found that selecting 64 bit HEX for the key did the trick. It accepted my 10 digit key, and the camera connected wireless. Good luck.

Thanks for the support. In my case the issue was with a Cisco router WRT120N and DCS 932L. Didnt find the option "mixed" but change the encription from TKIP/AES to just only AES.

SequiMike, I joined the forums just to thank you. After an hour of troubleshooting I was able to install the camera by changing the router setting from WPA2 mixed to WPA2 personal.

And... it now works on a Thompson router and using WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK, using the latest firmware; for Hardware revision B: 2.11. Which the mydlink site installs when you visit the camera (it takes a good few minutes so be patient).

  • Click Site Survey and select the network (so that's "Infrastructure" mode).
  • Select WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK.
  • Enter the network key which the router uses (in my case, printed on the back by the telco).

Done! :)

You might try using WPA2 only on the router if thats possible.
Also set a manual channel of 1, 6 or 11 if there not too busy or being used.

Enjoy.  ;)
