HELP! "ACCESS CONTROL POLICY " ERROR ON MY DIR-868L
« on: September 01, 2014, 10:42:18 PM »

HI everyone, please help! ???

My DIR-868L "ACCESS CONTROL POLICY"
Currently it's not working, or I'm doing something wrong in setting it up, or I'm getting hacked by my employee?

I have setup my access control policy as followed:

Advanced > Access Control
Enable Access Control: Checked
Choose a unique name for your policy: Block
Choose a schedule to apply to this policy: LOGS
Select the machine to which this policy applies: MAC, I selected the user MAC's given:
00:ab:0e:01:e2:92
00:00:00:01:4c:16
Select the method for filtering: Block All Access
Then I hit Save!

My Schedules is setup like so...

TOOLS > SCHEDULES
Name:LOGS
Day(s):All Week
All Day - 24 hrs: unchecked
Time Format:12-hour
Start Time: 8:0AM   (hour:minute)
End Time: 9:0PM   (hour:minute)
I believe everything is done correctly right?

But when I checked my status this afternoon @ 1:42PM they are still connected to my WIFI?
Please help, any suggestions anyone??

Link>Welcome!

  • What region are you located?
  • Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?
  • Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates then set up from scratch?
FW Update Process
  • Was the router working before any firmware updates?

Instead of using the MAC address, try using the IP address of the offending devices?

Are they allowed at any time on your network? Maybe also change the PW on the Wifi as well?

Hi there,

Did you check to see if those clients on your access control block list are actually prohibited from accessing the internet? Logically the access control deals with if a device/client is blocked or has some access from the IP layer and not a physical layer (aka wifi). In other words you will see the wireless client on your wifi client list regardless on if they are blocked or not. The clients themselves will be associated/connected to the router but if you have specified "Block All Access" then they should not be able to get online. I have tried this on the 868L and it does work as intended.

If you want to prevent someone from connecting wirelessly on this router so you don't see them on the list you can set up guest zone and give them access to that SSID based on a schedule so when it's off schedule that signal simply drops. It is also easy to validate as well.

Hope this helps.
